Essential Functions: • Inspect machines and equipment daily, perform routine maintenance procedures and minor repairs as required and initiate additional repair requests from mechanics when necessary., • Ensure equipment lift accessories are in good working condition., • Maintain material moving equipment in good working condition., • Inspect cables for wear and install or replace cables, as needed under Fleet Mechanic supervision., • Determine load weights and check them against lifting capacities to prevent overload., • Inspect bundle packaging for conformance to regulations or customer requirements and remove and batch packaging tickets., • Direct helpers engaged in placing blocking or outrigging under cranes., • Direct truck drivers backing vehicles into loading bays and cover, uncover, or secure loads for delivery., • Ensure cargo is properly secured prior to transporting., • Signal others to coordinate vehicle movement., • Provide additional support to other crane operators as necessary, including working overtime if necessary to complete tasks., • Control cranes, lifts and other equipment using standard operating procedures to ensure effective transportation of materials and safety for all personnel on site., • Maintain visual and radio contact with ground operators according to best practices and site safety regulations and respond to questions and instructions clearly and quickly., • Maintain and update DOT driver log information daily., • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance., • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications., • Skill necessary to maneuver large mobile equipment within moving traffic or limited access areas., • Controlling operations of equipment or systems., • Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly., • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems., • Obtain and maintain a Class A Commercial Drivers License., • Obtain and maintain required certification for equipment assigned to operate., • The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions., • The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. Job Description We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Mechanic to maintain and repair heavy industrial equipment that supports our sandblasting and painting operations. This includes diesel air compressors, diesel trucks, and media blasting systems. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, be comfortable working both in-shop and in the field, and demonstrate leadership qualities with the ability to grow into a Head of Maintenance position as our company expands. Compensation: $45,000 - $67,500 yearly based on experience Responsibilities: Equipment Maintenance & Repair • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel-powered equipment, compressors, trucks, blasting machines, and related heavy machinery., • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections to maximize equipment reliability., • Help create and follow a routine maintenance program., • Conduct field repairs when equipment cannot be moved to the shop., • Document all work performed following company standards and DOT/state requirements. DOT Compliance & State Documentation • Maintain DOT compliance on all company vehicles and equipment, including trucks, trailers, compressors, and mobile blasting units., • Ensure equipment and vehicles meet all federal DOT requirements as well as state-level compliance regulations., • Assist with DOT laws, paperwork, and filings required by state agencies to keep all equipment legal and roadworthy., • Complete and maintain Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs), mechanic certifications, and compliance logs., • Work with supervisors and managers to ensure timely scheduling of DOT-required inspections and documentation. Parts & Vendor Management • Order required parts and supplies through approved vendors., • Track parts usage and maintain accurate inventory records., • Pick up parts and equipment as necessary to support ongoing repairs. Budgeting & Cost Management • Prepare accurate repair budgets including labor, materials, and outside services., • Track and report repair costs to ensure accountability and efficiency. This position offers flexibility to be remote with up to 75% travel Field Leadership Development • Assess current superintendents’ skills and capabilities through site visits and one-on-one interactions., • Participate in interviews with potential new hires for key superintendent positions., • Develop individualized and group development plans to strengthen leadership, technical, and operational skills., • Provide SME input into the development and continuous improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and execution standards for field operations., • Ensure all superintendents are trained and aligned with company standards, safety protocols, and quality requirements., • Participate in preconstruction planning for large and complex projects, advising on site logistics, staffing, schedule feasibility, and constructability., • Support site leadership during project mobilization to ensure effective field setup and alignment with execution plans., • Conduct regular field audits to evaluate compliance with company SOPs, quality standards, and safety practices., • Provide clear feedback and actionable improvement recommendations to superintendents and project leadership., • Track field performance trends and recommend strategic initiatives to address recurring challenges.Qualifications, • 15+ years of progressive construction field leadership experience, with significant time served as a senior project superintendent on large-scale ($100M+) EPC, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, or similar process-industrial projects., • Proven track record of improving field performance through training, process improvement, and leadership coaching., • Strong working knowledge of construction means and methods, scheduling, safety, and quality control., • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to influence without direct authority., • Influential leader able to win buy-in from experienced superintendents and project teams., • Practical expert with hands-on knowledge and credibility earned through years of field experience., • Change Champion that is passionate about continuous improvement and raising the bar on execution., • Strategic thinker who understands both the big picture and the operational details. Job DescriptionPURPOSE Create and develop relationships supportive of the Baker Group mission statement with employees, internal and external customers. Additionally, provide opportunities to increase business unit revenues by marketing and cross selling products and services provided by Baker Group. This includes, but is not limited to temperature controls and security systems. Manage projects in a manner that compliments all facets of the project from design to owner training. Maintain and grow the “Customer for Life” concept for existing and new customers. Provides sales support as needed to secure potential sales, reviews estimates as required, initiates sales / ops turnovers and documents scope, reviews control submittals and re-estimate, assists in scheduling, revenue forecasting. Prices all change orders ensuring customer labor rates / markups are met. Provides reviews / goals of ops team members. Responsible for execution coordination, project documentation, project financials, and customer satisfaction. Performs related work as required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties are typical for this job. These are not to be constructed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. • Understand building automation systems, • Offer and implement solutions to customers through engineering and field personnel, • Continuously develop relationships with existing customers and pursue opportunities which provide long-term customer relationships and revenue opportunities, cross sell and cold call, • Educate customers on Baker Group capabilities not only in the building automation business, but also cross selling capabilities for revenue opportunities within other business units, • Develop solutions for customers utilizing internal estimating software and standard product selections. Review with Baker Group team members solutions prior to submitting to customer – make sure we can deliver what we are selling, • Act as account manager or single point of contact with customer during project execution, • Attend scheduling meetings with Operations Manager – assist with scheduling field labor, • Attend internal and external project meetings, provide oral and written communication on information requests, proposal requests, coordination, submittal reviews, etc., • Initiate turnover meetings to engineering and field discussing project scope, safety, timelines, etc., • Procure subcontracts for installation – use procurement documented format when obtaining multiple bids, • Utilize company standard documents for business development, pre-proposal checklists, turnovers, subcontracts, purchase orders, warranty, etc., • Manage projects to ensure financial success of the project, • Accurate daily time and equipment reporting MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, Engineering preferred, • Experience in Automation and HVAC systems, • Experience in estimating/managing automation projects, building and growing customer relationships, • Willing to travel and/or relocate, • Successfully pass drug test and background investigation as contingency for employment CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS • Valid driver license with good driving record MENTAL AND PHYSICAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Entrepreneurial spirit, • Positive attitude, • Team player, collaborative with the group, • Ability to develop and maintain long-term relationships, • Communication skills; direct with customers, construction team, and internal, • Knowledge of building automation systems ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY At any given time, may be exposed to: • Normal office conditions Baker Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
