Job Summary: The Pricing & Product Analyst is an integral member of the Hummingbird team, responsible for analyzing current and future cost of goods sold (COGS) and setting product pricing to achieve gross profit goals while supporting the companys mission and Core Values. This role analyzes customer demand and market data to optimize product assortment and leverages pricing and promotional strategies to drive sales and profitability. The Analyst evaluates and refines product and pricing strategies based on market conditions, customer behavior, and inventory levels, collaborating cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Service, Marketing, Farm Connections & Sourcing, Finance, and Operations teams. As a key contributor to the Product Management team, the Pricing & Product Analyst provides data-driven insights to support product lifecycle decisions, including new product development, launches, and product rationalization. Responsibilities include conducting category reviews, assessing pricing and promotional effectiveness, recommending pricing ranges and sales goals for new items, identifying assortment optimization opportunities, and maintaining accurate product and part data within Hummingbird systems. Essential Functions: • Develop, review, and maintain product pricing strategies that support Hummingbirds financial goals, annual budget, and gross profit objectives., • Propose pricing for new products and regularly evaluate category- and product-level margins, gross profit dollars, and sales performance., • Analyze market trends, customer demand, and competitor pricing to inform pricing and assortment decisions., • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that optimize inventory flow, profitability, and business performance., • Provide analytical support for cross-departmental initiatives to identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities., • Maintain accurate pricing history, price lists, and analytical systems while ensuring data integrity and reporting accuracy., • Build and maintain reporting and evaluation tools (e.g., Excel or alternative platforms) to support pricing, margin, and performance analysis., • Communicate pricing, product, and analytical insights clearly and effectively across departments and to audiences with varying levels of expertise., • Complete scheduled product and category reviews to ensure pricing, performance, and assortment alignment., • Responsible for the facilitation of Hummingbirds cross-functional Product Management Team meetings and coordinating projects in collaboration with other team members., • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including workplace and food safety standards, and actively contribute to a strong safety culture., • Uphold the highest standard of food safety by following all policies and procedures in the Food Safety Plan applicable to the job title., • Communicate in-person, via phone, and over email in a friendly and professional manner., • Participate in department meetings and trainings as needed and/or scheduled., • Complete company-sponsored training in Lean and Kaizen culture, use Lean and Kaizen principles in collaboration with Coworkers to reduce waste, improve customer outcomes, and support company goals and objectives., • Comply with all applicable company, governmental, and regulatory agency policies and guidelines., • Give excellent customer service, understanding that every relationship counts. Job Requirements and Qualifications: Education: Bachelors of Science Degree, with an accredited university or college required. A degree or coursework in business, finance, research, statistics, math, economics, or a related analytical discipline is preferred. Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates): None required, though any relating to items listed under skill requirements or experience is helpful. Previous work experience in supply chain and/or merchandise management preferred. Skill Requirements: • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with strong overall computer skills., • Proven experience in financial modeling, pricing and margin analysis, cost analysis, and interpretation of large data sets., • Ability to develop, maintain, and use pricing tools and profitability models to support business decisions., • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail and data accuracy., • Ability to analyze pricing actions and forecast margin impacts related to promotions and seasonality., • Experience working with databases and performing accurate data entry, manipulation, and retrieval; ability to quickly learn new systems., • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment., • Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present analysis and insights to cross-functional partners., • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain professionalism, and work in alignment with company mission, values, policies, and procedures., • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team with minimal supervision., • Ability to perform detailed work requiring sustained focus., • Ability to work in a moderately noisy, open environment. Experience: • Pricing, Product Management, Merchandising, or related analytical role -one year of previous experience in one of these areas is highly desirable., • Natural Foods any experience, whether personal or professional, with the natural foods industry is preferred. Physical, Mental, and Visual Requirements: • While Hummingbird Wholesale strives to create opportunities for desk workers to have regular tasks that get them up and moving around, the Pricing & Product Analyst spends the majority of their time in a stationary position at a desk., • The Coworker must be able to operate a computer for many hours a day., • In support of some essential job functions, the position requires the Pricing & Product Analyst to work in commercial food production and warehouse environments.
