The Transportation/Warehouse Associate Class-A will usually perform the following routes: agency deliveries, transport of product to Food Bank branches, and pickups from food donors in a branchs service area. This position is based out of one of the Food Banks six branches and will require some warehouse duties in addition to daily driving duties. RESPSONSIBILITIES • There is an expectation that exemplary customer service will be displayed at all times with all internal and external contacts (staff, partners, donors, volunteers, general public, etc.) in order to promote the Food Banks mission. Represent the Food Bank as an ambassador for the organization in a friendly and professional manner and contribute to building and maintaining teamwork at the branch facility and throughout the Organization., • Run all routes in the most efficient manner possible., • Maintain and develop strong relationships with allfood donors (retailers, farmers/growers, manufacturers,etc.) and partner agencies as appropriate., • Be engaged in the process of food safety and be up to date and trained on all internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Feeding America best practices, and food safety SOPs applicable to this position; uphold and maintain appropriate aspects of food safety and handling and be "audit ready" at all times; successfully take and complete all food safety training applicable to this position, • Pickup donations from food donors., • Unload and organize retail product in the warehouse (i.e., freezer, cooler, shopping line, etc.), at the direction of the branch warehouse lead., • Under direction of direct supervisor or the Dispatcher, deliver/pick up product to/from local donors, partner agencies, and other entities., • Maintain transportation logs, pre-trip procedures, quarterly vehicle inspections, maintenance schedule, receipts, and invoices according to company policy., • Utilize equipment provided by the Food Bank to record all applicable Roadnet data required (e.g., time arrived, time departed, etc.) for each stop (pickup or delivery)., • Accurately and consistently record all time plots, route discrepancies and route notes on the Roadnet app., • Immediately communicate with the Dispatcher any changes and all incidents that may impact route appointment times or product delivered/picked up., • Represent the Food Bank in a friendly and professional manner in all dealings and relationships with the public (partner agencies, donors, volunteers, etc.)., • Assist with the loading and unloading of vehicles (includes vehicles from other organizations) when in the warehouse., • Effectively disburse product into appropriate locations within the warehouse., • Maintain warehouse equipment and report any equipment issues to appropriate supervisor immediately., • Ensure that all safety policies and procedures are carried out. Provide a safe work environment for all visitors and staff., • Perform any other tasks or duties as directed by supervisor. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS • High school diploma or GED, • Clean driving record and valid Class-A license required, • Must have, or be able to, obtain forklift certification training will be provided, • Ability to drive manual transmission preferred, • Demonstrated professionalism and excellent customer service is required, • Previous route driving, customer service and warehouse experience is preferred PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is often required to: • Drive a commercial motor vehicle;, • Lift and carry loads of up to 60 pounds for short distances (less than 50 feet),, • To reach for and/or lift upward with their arms and hands to heights of 6 feet or greater;, • To twist their body right or left, often repeatedly;, • To stand, walk, and sit, and, • To use their hands and fingers to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, and to stoop, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While driving, operators are exposed to noise and vibration levels which may be higher than those typically experienced in passenger cars., • Persons in this position may spend up to 50% of time out of doors exposed to potentially difficult environmental conditions., • Persons in this position may be subject to temperature, weather, and outside environment extremes, long trips, short notice for assignment of a trip, tight delivery schedules, delays in route, and stresses and fatigue related to driving a commercial vehicle on crowded streets and highways in all kinds of weather., • Warehouse environment and travel to pickup and delivery sites throughout the Food Bank service area. Must be able to frequently lift boxes weighing up to 60 lbs. throughout the work day., • Will be required to enter and exit coolers and freezers with temperatures ranging from -10 degrees Fahrenheit to 42 degrees Fahrenheit.
