Position Summary: The Lead Painter is responsible for planning, leading, and executing residential painting scopes within remodeling projects. This role ensures premium surface preparation, precise application, jobsite organization, crew coordination, and adherence to safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented craftsperson and a strong communicator who can manage multiple projects and train junior painters. Key Responsibilities • Project Leadership Lead daily painting operations for interior and exterior remodeling projects, • Coordinate schedules, crew assignments, and material needs with the Project Manager, • Conduct site walk-throughs, verify scope, and set quality expectations with clients and team, • Surface Prep & Application Perform and oversee cleaning, sanding, scraping, patching, caulking, taping, priming, and masking, • Apply paints, stains, sealers, varnishes, and specialty coatings per manufacturer specs, • Match colors, mix/tint paints, and ensure consistent finishes across surfaces, • Repair drywall/plaster and minor carpentry as needed for paint readiness, • Quality & Safety Maintain clean, protected, and organized jobsites; ensure proper ventilation and containment, • Inspect work for coverage, finish quality, edges/lines, and compliance with specs, • Document progress, issues, and change orders; ensure material data sheets are onsite, • Address punch lists promptly and professionally, • Support accurate time, material, and photo documentation via company systems/apps Qualifications • 5+ years professional residential painting experience, • Proficiency in interior/exterior prep, spraying, brush/roll, and finish work, • Strong knowledge of coatings, primers, substrates, and environmental conditions, • Experience reading scopes, plans, and product data sheets, • Experience in remodeling environments (occupied homes, dust control, protection protocols), • Drywall repair/skim coating and minor carpentry skills, • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus Core Competencies • Craftsmanship and attention to detail, • Leadership and team coordination, • Time management and sequencing, • Professional communication and customer service, • Problem-solving and adaptability Tools & Equipment • Proficient with sprayers (airless/HVLP), sanders, mixers, ladders, and basic hand/power tools, • Ability to maintain and troubleshoot equipment; ensure proper cleaning and storage Physical Requirements • Lift/carry up to 50 lbs regularly, • Stand, kneel, climb ladders/scaffolding for extended periods, • Work in varied conditions (indoor/outdoor, heat/cold, dust, odors) Work Schedule • Monday–Friday; occasional Saturdays as needed based on project timelines, • Start times typically 7:00–8:00 a.m. Compensation & Benefits • Pay range: 20-30/hr salary, • Benefits: Health, dental, vision reimbursement, PTO, holidays, company vehicle/tools
