Job DescriptionSalary: $75,000-$85,000 DOE Manager, Grants & Special Projects Pay Range: $75,000$85,000 annually (DOE) Classification: Full-time, exempt Schedule: MondayFriday, 9:00 AM5:00 PM (occasional evenings as needed) Location: Tempe hybrid eligible (in-person presence required for key meetings) Organization Overview Sonoran Prevention Works (SPW) is an Arizona-based nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and communities impacted by substance use through opioid overdose prevention, education, advocacy, and direct community support. SPW operates multiple federal, state, and foundation-funded programs supporting overdose prevention, infectious disease prevention, outreach, and linkage to care initiatives across Arizona. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Manager, Grants & Special Projects to oversee grant implementation, compliance, reporting, and grant writing efforts across the organization. Position Summary The Manager, Grants & Special Projects is responsible for managing SPWs portfolio of grant-funded projects and ensuring full compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. This role oversees work plan development, performance monitoring, data quality assurance, grant reporting, and grant writing activities. The Manager works cross-functionally with program, finance, and leadership teams to ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on time. This position reports to the Director of Finance-Controller and supervises the Data & Special Projects Coordinator. Key Responsibilities Grant Management & Oversight • Oversee implementation of multiple federal, state, and foundation grants and funding streams., • Develop and maintain detailed grant work plans with measurable targets and timelines., • Monitor performance against grant objectives and identify areas requiring corrective action, reporting to and preparing recommendations for executive and fiscal leadership on a regular cadence., • Ensure all deliverables are submitted in accordance with contractual deadlines., • Coordinate with program leadership to align activities with funding requirements. Compliance & Reporting • Ensure compliance with 2 CFR Part 200 Uniform Administrative Requirements (Uniform Guidance)., • Maintain adherence to SAMHSA, AHCCCS, and other applicable funding regulations., • Prepare and submit required reports through systems such as the AHCCCS SharePoint Compliance Portal., • Lead preparation of accurate and timely programmatic and performance reports to federal, state, and foundation funders., • Maintain audit-ready documentation for all grant activities., • Support site visits, monitoring reviews, and funder audits. Grant Writing & Funding Development • Lead development and submission of competitive grant applications and renewal proposals., • Draft, edit, and finalize grant narratives, goals, objectives, and supporting documentation., • Collaborate with finance and program staff on budget development and required financial documentation., • Identify and track new funding opportunities aligned with SPWs strategic priorities., • Support funding development efforts through grant writing and proposal preparation (this role does not focus on individual donor fundraising). Data Oversight & Quality Assurance • Supervise data collection and verification processes to ensure accuracy and completeness., • Review subcontractor submissions and internal reports for compliance and quality., • Strengthen internal tracking systems to monitor real-time progress toward deliverables., • Implement quality improvement measures when needed. Supervision & Leadership • Supervise and support the Data & Special Projects Coordinator., • Assign and monitor project responsibilities related to reporting and data management., • Provide coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations., • Promote a culture of accountability and compliance across grant-funded programs. Required Qualifications • Bachelors degree in Public Health, Public Administration, Business, Nonprofit Management, or related field (Masters preferred)., • 46 years of experience in grant management, compliance, or public health program administration., • Demonstrated experience writing, submitting, and managing competitive grant applications., • Demonstrated experience preparing and submitting programmatic and performance reports to federal, state, or foundation funders., • Strong knowledge of grant lifecycle management, from proposal development through closeout., • Working knowledge of 2 CFR Part 200 (Uniform Guidance)., • Excellent writing, analytical, and project management skills., • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and funding streams simultaneously., • Proficiency with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with SAMHSA, AHCCCS, or other public health funding entities., • Experience supervising staff., • Familiarity with public health data systems or compliance portals., • Experience working in nonprofit or public health settings. Compensation & Benefits • Annual Salary: $75,000$85,000 depending on experience., • Eligible for SPWs benefits package, including health insurance, PTO, and paid holidays.
