Job DescriptionDescription: The CADD Technician 1 for steel platforms, mezzanines, stairs, and cantilevers is responsible for developing detailed technical drawings and 3D models for structural steel components and systems. This role requires expertise in creating fabrication and installation plans that meet engineering specifications, safety regulations, and industry standards. The technician will collaborate with engineers, project managers, and fabricators to ensure seamless production and assembly. Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities: • Drafting and Modeling:, • Produce 2D drawings for steel platforms, mezzanines, stairs, and cantilever systems using CADD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, SolidWorks)., • Develop precise shop drawings and fabrication plans for structural steel components, including beams, handrails, supports, and fasteners., • Create detailed layouts showing load-bearing specifications, connection details, and assembly instructions., • Design Collaboration:, • Interpret structural design specifications and sketches provided by engineers or architects., • Collaborate with engineers to refine designs for manufacturability and safety compliance., • Contribute to a positive, respectful team environment by supporting coworkers, communicating professionally, and demonstrating a strong work ethic., • Address client-specific design requirements, such as load capacities, clearance heights, or specialized finishes., • Compliance and Quality Assurance:, • Regular and reliable attendance, adhering to assigned work schedules and punctuality standards., • Ensure drawings align with applicable standards, such as AISC, AWS, OSHA, and local building codes., • Verify the accuracy of measurements, material callouts, weld types, and connection details., • Incorporate feedback from project stakeholders and conduct revisions as needed., • Project Coordination:, • Work closely with project managers to meet deadlines and ensure alignment with project scopes., • Communicate design changes or challenges to fabrication teams and resolve issues during production., • Coordinate with installation teams to provide clear assembly instructions and resolve field issues., • Documentation and Reporting:, • Maintain organized records of drawings, models, and associated documentation for reference and audits., • Prepare technical submittals, including as-built drawings and material take-offs, for project approval. Requirements: Required Skills and Qualifications: • Proficiency in CADD software such as AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, or Revit., • Strong understanding of steel fabrication methods, including cutting, welding, and assembly., • Associate degree or certification in Computer-Aided Drafting, Design, or Structural Engineering., • Detail-Oriented: Ability to produce accurate and thorough drawings., • Problem-Solving: Capability to address design challenges related to manufacturability and structural integrity., • Communication: Clear and effective communication skills for technical discussions with engineers, fabricators, and installation crews., • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines under pressure., • Work is primarily performed in a professional office setting, using computer-aided design software and related tools., • Occasional visits to the shop floor or fabrication areas may be required for project reviews or field measurements., • Requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer., • Frequent use of hands and fingers for keyboarding, mouse navigation, and technical drawing tools., • Must be able to visually inspect detailed technical drawings on-screen and in print., • Occasional lifting of materials, binders, or equipment up to 15 pounds., • PPE may be required during shop visits, including safety glasses and steel-toe shoes.
