Purpose of Role: The Class A CDL Driver ensures the safe, timely, and compliant transportation of Vac2Go vacuum trucks and related equipment to and from customer sites. This role is critical to operational readiness, supporting field teams by delivering equipment where and when it is needed while upholding Vac2Go’s safety and service standards. This position is classified as safety‑sensitive and requires strict adherence to DOT regulations, company safety policies, and all applicable federal and state laws. Job Summary/Objective: The Class A CDL Driver is responsible for operating company vehicles to transport vacuum trucks and equipment across regional and multi‑state routes in compliance with DOT regulations and company policies. When not driving, the role supports branch operations through assigned shop duties. Core Responsibilities Driving & Transportation • Safely transport vacuum trucks and related equipment to and from customer locations in accordance with delivery schedules, • Plan efficient driving routes and anticipate potential delays, site restrictions, or resource needs, • Communicate delivery status, delays, or incidents promptly to the Operations Manager and dispatch, • Accurately document equipment pick‑ups, drop‑offs, and delivery confirmations DOT Compliance & Safety • Comply with all DOT and FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS) requirements, • Conduct and document pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, reporting defects or safety concerns immediately, • Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, and DOT documentation in accordance with regulatory standards, • Participate in required DOT drug and alcohol testing, safety training, audits, and compliance reviews, • Maintain a valid DOT medical card and active CDL, and immediately notify management of any change in certification status, • Immediately report accidents, citations, roadside inspections, or DOT violations to the Operations Manager, • Follow company and DOT policies related to vehicle maintenance, load securement, and safe driving practices, • Maintain fitness for duty at all times in support of Vac2Go’s safety‑sensitive workplace requirements Equipment, Documentation & Fleet Support • Keep assigned vehicles clean, organized, and in good working condition, • Accurately document and report maintenance needs or mechanical issues to Fleet Technicians or Mechanics, • Maintain updated records in the Fleet Management system to support DOT and operational compliance, • Submit required expenses, logs, and documentation to Accounting and Operations daily Customer Interaction • Demonstrate basic vacuum equipment functionality to customers during delivery as required, • Address customer questions professionally and escalate concerns appropriately before leaving the site, • Represent Vac2Go positively through professionalism, responsiveness, and adherence to safety standards Shop & Operational Support • Assist with shop duties (e.g., cleaning, organizing parts, staging equipment) as assigned when not driving, • Monitor the Plan of the Day board and stay informed of daily operational priorities, • Follow technician and management direction and report any observed safety concerns within the shop or yard Education & Experience • High School Diploma or GED required, • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tanker endorsement, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire, • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and current DOT medical card, • Minimum 3-5 years of experience operating heavy‑duty commercial vehicles, • Experience operating both automatic and manual transmission vehicles, • Familiarity with hauling industrial or specialty equipment preferred Required Skills • Ability to sit for extended periods while driving., • Capable of climbing in and out of vehicles and securing loads., • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally., • Tolerance for outdoor working conditions and varying weather.
