Job Description Position Summary Rivercity Industries is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Shipping and Receiving Inventory Specialist to manage the accurate movement of materials and finished products throughout our operation. This position handles shipping and receiving, maintains inventory accuracy, verifies material identification and traceability, and supports activities before and after customer deliveries. The right candidate will be organized, comfortable working in a manufacturing environment, and committed to making sure every item and its documentation are correct. This is an important hands-on role that works closely with Production, Quality, Purchasing, and other team members to keep materials moving efficiently while meeting company and customer requirements. Key Responsibilities Shipping and Receiving • Receive incoming materials, supplies, and customer-provided items., • Compare deliveries against purchase orders, packing slips, and other receiving documents., • Inspect shipments for visible damage, shortages, incorrect quantities, or labeling issues., • Prepare finished products and other materials for shipment., • Verify part numbers, quantities, packaging, labels, addresses, and shipping instructions before release., • Schedule or coordinate carrier pickups and deliveries as needed., • Create and maintain packing slips, shipping labels, bills of lading, and related records., • Help resolve shipping, receiving, and delivery discrepancies promptly. Inventory and Material Control • Maintain accurate inventory quantities and storage locations., • Record material receipts, issues, transfers, returns, and adjustments in the company’s inventory system., • Place received materials in their assigned locations and ensure they are properly identified., • Support cycle counts and physical inventory activities., • Investigate inventory discrepancies and communicate findings to the appropriate team members., • Help maintain clean, organized, and clearly identified inventory and staging areas., • Monitor materials awaiting inspection, processing, shipment, or disposition. Material Identification and Traceability • Verify that materials are properly identified with the correct part number, revision, quantity, lot number, heat number, serial number, or other required information., • Compare material certifications and receiving documentation with purchase orders, work orders, drawings, and applicable customer requirements., • Confirm that required certifications and traceability records are present before materials are accepted, moved, or shipped., • Maintain separation and identification of materials with different lots, revisions, or statuses., • Identify incomplete, damaged, mislabeled, or questionable materials and place them on hold when appropriate., • Work with Quality and Purchasing to resolve documentation or traceability concerns., • Maintain organized records that can be retrieved for customer, quality, or audit purposes. Pre- and Post-Delivery Support • Confirm that products, quantities, documents, packaging, and delivery instructions are complete before shipment., • Coordinate with Production and Quality to ensure orders are ready for delivery., • Assemble required shipment paperwork, certifications, and customer documentation., • Track shipment status and help confirm successful delivery., • Maintain proof-of-delivery and other completed shipping records., • Follow up on missing documentation, delivery discrepancies, returned materials, or damaged shipments., • Communicate shipping and delivery issues clearly and promptly to the appropriate team members. Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent., • Previous experience in shipping, receiving, inventory control, warehousing, or manufacturing is preferred., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation., • Ability to compare part numbers, quantities, revisions, and traceability information carefully., • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn inventory, ERP, shipping, and document-management systems., • Ability to read and understand purchase orders, packing slips, work orders, and shipping instructions., • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills., • Ability to manage several priorities while maintaining accuracy., • Dependable attendance and a strong sense of responsibility., • Ability to work independently and collaborate with Production, Quality, Purchasing, and other departments. Preferred Experience • Experience in a precision manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or other regulated environment., • Familiarity with material certifications, lot or heat traceability, serial-number control, and revision control., • Experience performing cycle counts and investigating inventory discrepancies., • Experience with common carriers, freight shipments, and shipping software., • Forklift, pallet jack, or material-handling experience. Physical and Work Requirements • Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout a manufacturing and warehouse environment., • Ability to safely lift and move materials weighing up to 60 pounds, with assistance or lifting equipment when appropriate., • Ability to use carts, pallet jacks, scales, computers, scanners, and other shipping or material-handling equipment., • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and follow all workplace safety procedures., • Forklift operation may be required after appropriate training and authorization.
