Position Overview The Marketing and Communications Coordinator supports the execution of strategic marketing, communications, and storytelling initiatives that strengthen brand awareness, stakeholder engagement, student recruitment, and organizational impact across KIPP Capital Region. This role provides administrative, project management, and content creation support to the Director of Communication and Organizational Impact while assisting with digital communications, social media, marketing campaigns, and internal and external communications efforts. Duties and Responsibilities Communications & Storytelling • Write and support the development of high-quality, compelling long-form and short-form content that communicates stories from the KIPP community to inspire students, families, staff, donors, and the broader public., • Develop and publish ongoing internal and external stories that highlight the achievements, culture, and impact of KIPP Capital Region schools and communities., • Support the creation and execution of annual communications plans and monthly content calendars aligned to organizational priorities and strategic initiatives., • Gather in-person content for digital storytelling, including interviews, quotes, photos, and videos featuring students, families, teachers, and staff., • Draft and distribute communication materials, including newsletters, press releases, blogs, talking points, feature stories, op-eds, and website content., • Serve as a central point of coordination for internal and external communications across schools and regional teams., • Assist in developing proactive messaging strategies that anticipate stakeholder needs and strengthen community trust and engagement., • Support emergency and crisis communication efforts by helping ensure messaging is timely, clear, and aligned with organizational protocols., • Support and execute donor engagement through communications such as frequent touch points, thank you letters and development tool kits and campaigns Marketing Strategy & Digital Engagement • Support the development and execution of strategic marketing campaigns that advance student recruitment, staff recruitment, fundraising, and community engagement goals., • Assist with creating and implementing digital marketing campaigns across social media, email marketing, websites, search and display advertising, streaming audio, and video platforms., • Develop, manage, and maintain social media content calendars, templates, guidelines, and branding standards to ensure consistency across all communication channels., • Create engaging digital and print marketing materials, including flyers, brochures, one-pagers, event signage, recruitment materials, presentations, and branded collateral., • Use email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact to design newsletters, email campaigns, and communication templates for various stakeholder groups., • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to update and maintain the organization’s website using WordPress or other content management systems., • Monitor analytics, engagement data, and campaign performance to evaluate effectiveness and inform future communication and marketing strategies., • Support the execution of multimedia campaigns through photography, video, graphics, and digital storytelling strategies. Brand Management & Public Relations • Protect and promote the KIPP Capital Region brand by ensuring consistency in messaging, tone, voice, and visual identity across all platforms and materials., • Support efforts to increase brand visibility, public awareness, and stakeholder engagement through strategic storytelling and marketing initiatives., • Assist with managing the organization’s social media presence by developing engaging content and fostering positive online community engagement., • Maintain organized archives of photos, videos, marketing assets, media coverage, and public relations materials for future storytelling and promotional use., • Coordinate the sourcing, procurement, and distribution of promotional materials and branded items while ensuring alignment with organizational brand standards., • Support media relations efforts, including drafting media responses, preparing leadership talking points, and coordinating press opportunities as needed., • Manage photo and video shoots at the school and regional level. Strategic Communications & Collaboration • Partner with school leaders, academic teams, talent teams, operations, development, and regional leadership to support integrated communications and marketing efforts., • Meet with internal stakeholders to determine communication priorities, establish project scopes, and develop strategic messaging and campaign plans., • Support initiatives that strengthen internal communication systems and ensure staff, students, families, and community stakeholders remain informed and connected., • Assist with community engagement efforts by helping cultivate partnerships with local organizations, businesses, families, and community leaders., • Support recruitment and enrollment campaigns through strategic storytelling, brand awareness efforts, and targeted communications initiatives., • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure communication strategies align with organizational goals, regional priorities, and student outcomes. Project Management & Operational Support • Manage multiple communications and marketing projects simultaneously while ensuring high-quality deliverables and adherence to deadlines., • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of communication and marketing timelines, deliverables, and campaign calendars., • Assist in managing marketing and communications budgets, vendor relationships, and project workflows., • Maintain strong organizational systems for content planning, campaign management, asset organization, and communication tracking., • Continuously evaluate and improve communication processes, systems, and strategies to enhance organizational effectiveness and stakeholder engagement. KIPP Capital Region • Perform other duties as outlined by the Director of Communication and Organizational Impact., • Committed to furthering anti-racism, equity, and racial justice in all our efforts, we expect all our stakeholders to participate in this work so that we can create a future without limits for our students together., • Complies with all charter, federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including the NYS Department of Education, Department of Health, and NYS Office of Children and Family Services., • Adheres to organization policies and procedures; promotes and supports mission, vision, and values, including developing and participating in internal surveys and data collection for continuous improvement initiatives.Qualifications Education and Experience • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field, • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in marketing and communication leadership, public relations, corporate communications, and educational marketing, • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful marketing campaigns., • Experience with Canva and Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Suite., • Interest in working in a dynamic and supportive work environment, committed to ensuring every student has what they need to be successful., • Open to an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students, families, and educators., • Preferred experience working directly with students, preferably required in the charter, private, or public school environment., • Prior experience working in schools and urban communities is preferred but not required., • Ability to work a flexible schedule outside of regular business hours., • Aptitude to create and work within an inclusive environment that honors and supports a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience relevant to the role and longevity within the KIPP network. KIPP Capital Region will evaluate and determine the step/level a new hire will be placed within our graded salary scale at point of hire.
