Job Description Job Title: Birth Registrar / Health Information Specialist Location: Houston, TX 77030 Schedule: 8x5 | M - F + Every Other Weekend (Off Friday & Monday when working weekends) Duration: 13-Week Contract (High chance of extension) Pay Range: $16 - $19/hr on W2 Key Responsibilities: • Manage birth registration processes and assist mothers in completing required birth certificate documentation., • Review daily birth reports in Epic and identify patients admitted for delivery., • Assist parents with completion of Mother’s Worksheet and Verification of Birth Facts forms., • Educate parents on Texas laws related to Acknowledgement of Paternity and provide required forms and brochures., • Complete and submit birth records through Texas Electronic Registrar (TER) system., • Ensure accurate completion and filing of Acknowledgement of Paternity documentation., • Collect and verify required identification and maintain proper documentation., • Scan and upload all required documents into EMR systems., • Distribute and collect Immunization (ImmTrac) and Social Security forms prior to discharge., • Provide front desk/reception support including greeting patients and answering inquiries., • Process release of information (ROI) requests and maintain accurate tracking in EHR. Requirements: • High School Diploma required; Associate’s Degree preferred., • Minimum 3 years of medical records or health information management experience required., • At least 1 year of birth registry experience required (degree may substitute)., • AOP Certification (Acknowledgement of Paternity – Texas) required within 6 months of hire., • Knowledge of medical terminology, HIM systems, and EMR (Epic preferred)., • Familiarity with ICD-9/CPT coding and regulatory guidelines (CMS, Medicaid) preferred., • Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills., • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer systems., • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
