Job Description Job Summary: Assist the Division Manager in supervising, planning, organizing, and execution of weekly activities of the water maintenance staff. Responsible for a variety of scheduled duties relating to the care, upkeep, installation, maintenance, beautification, and/or repair of the District's water infrastructure as assigned by the water systems Division Manager and Director. Monitor field performance, validate employee competency, and hold crews accountable to established expectations. Track repair and maintenance parts inventory as assigned by the Division Manager and Director. Communicate and work closely with vendors, customers, and other customer service representatives. Responsible for assisting the water systems staff in promoting the District's mission through great customer service and proving we care about our customers and will make every reasonable effort to meet or exceed their expectations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Provide daily onsite supervision for the work of crew activities related to the maintenance, inspection, and repair of all District fire hydrants, water valves, meters and associated infrastructure as assigned by Division Manager and Director., • Communicate with Division Manager in providing timely feedback on crew performance, project status, and operational needs. Assist in the prioritization and coordination of projects, as well as the tracking and management of parts, equipment, and tool inventory as assigned by Division Manager and Director., • Keep timely and accurate records of daily inspections, maintenance, and repairs on CityWorks. Ensure accuracy of all inspections and work orders created by crew members., • Evaluate, recommend, and effectively communicate repair needs, maintenance progress, and operational concerns related to fire hydrants and valves with Division Manager and Director. Provide oversight and coordination of remediation and restoration efforts, including asphalt and concrete repair, sod replacement, and other related work, ensuring all sites are restored in a timely, compliant, and professional manager., • Train employees in proper use and operation of equipment and tools to complete assigned maintenance tasks; model and enforce the safest methods of operation, precautions and procedures. Lead proactive safety initiatives, including near-miss reporting, job hazard analyses, and incident follow-ups., • Lead critical and responsive field operations for after-hours calls and urgent repairs, emergency situations, making judgment calls on prioritization while maintaining customer service, protecting assets, and reinforcing professional standards. The requirements of this position provide that the employee work in a safety sensitive manner and should carry out his/her duties as such. Prior Work Experience: At least four years of job-related prior experience preferred. At least four years of job-related prior experience preferred. At least 100 hours non-supervised, and 100 hours supervised operating heavy equipment preferred. Must have a proven ability to safely operate heavy equipment including backhoe, trackhoe, loader, and skidsteer preferred. Education and Training: High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional specialized training or technical education is preferred. Must have a strong working knowledge of creating and organizing work orders, and inspections in Cityworks. Licenses, Certifications, Etc.: • Commercial Driver's License; Class B with tanker and air brake endorsements minimum., • Utah State Drinking Water Operator Certification grade IV is required., • Utah State Wastewater grade IV collections certification is preferred., • Must be able to apply common sense and conduct analysis as required solving certain problems. Such work may include use of small and large equipment in inspection, maintenance and construction of water distribution system., • Must have ability to operate small equipment, heavy equipment and hand tools., • Must be able to verbally communicate with department staff and on occasion with the public and business vendors. Must be able to communicate using simple hand signals during normal operation of large equipment. Ability to adjust eye to bring an object into sharp focus., • Must be able to tolerate noise levels from moderate to very loud., • Frequently required to perform duties outdoors in all types of weather including extreme heat, cold, humid, wet, dry as well as fumes and airborne particles., • Required to tolerate vibration, hazardous traffic conditions, confined spaces, and working at night.
