Job DescriptionJob Title: CNC Operator Job Description Join a family-owned precision machining company as a CNC Operator, where you will run high-volume production on CNC equipment, maintain product quality, and keep machines operating efficiently. You will work with lathes, mills, and grinders to produce custom screw machine parts and CNC components, using detailed traveler packets, blueprints, and work instructions. This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys hands-on work, precision measurement, and contributing to a clean, organized, team-oriented shop. Responsibilities • Operate CNC machines, including lathes, mills, and grinders, according to traveler packets, prints, and work instructions., • Load and unload raw materials and finished parts safely and efficiently., • Verify that the correct CNC program is loaded before starting each job., • Produce and submit first-piece inspections for quality approval before running full production., • Monitor machines during production and make basic adjustments to maintain consistent part quality., • Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges., • Identify and promptly report defects, tooling wear, or machine issues to ensure minimal downtime., • Perform daily machine cleaning, chip management, and basic preventive maintenance tasks., • Maintain accurate production and quality documentation in accordance with company standards., • Follow all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards to support a clean and organized work area.Essential Skills, • Basic CNC machine operation experience or strong mechanical aptitude., • Ability to read blueprints and understand tolerances., • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges., • Strong attention to detail when setting up, running, and inspecting parts., • Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment., • Basic math skills, including working with decimals and fractions., • High school diploma or GED.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Mechanical aptitude and interest in machining and manufacturing., • Experience using measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges in a manufacturing environment., • Familiarity with CNC lathes, mills, and grinders., • Ability to follow written work instructions, traveler packets, and engineering prints accurately., • Strong sense of accountability and teamwork, with a focus on continuous improvement.Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a full-time, on-site role in a clean, organized precision machining shop focused on high-volume, repeat production of precision components. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with Fridays usually shorter, typically 6:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m., depending on work orders. You will work with CNC lathes, mills, grinders, and precision measuring tools in a setting that emphasizes safety, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. Uniforms are provided through a company program, supporting a professional and consistent dress standard on the shop floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Winnebago, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $25.00/hr.
