Job DescriptionSalary: $140,000-$150,000 Director of Adult Residential Services Hybrid Remote Full-Time (40 hours per week) Position in Oakland, CA (Exempt) Reports To: Chief Program Officer Who We Are Rubys Place dba Restorative Pathways (RP) is an innovative nonprofit committed to ending domestic violence, human trafficking, and violent crime through hope, advocacy and connection. Our services include emergency shelter, transitional housing, rental subsidies, mental health services, substance recovery, and wrap-around services. All our services are trauma-sensitive and client-centered and are provided at no cost to our clients. All programs are low barrier. You handle crises with calm, clarity, and purpose. What qualifications are required for this position? You also have: • A Bachelors degree in a relevant field, with a strong foundation in human services, social work, psychology, or public administration. Advanced certifications or degrees are a plus., • Minimum 57 years of leadership experience in residential, homeless services, or social services program management., • Demonstrated experience with compliance-driven environments (county shelter standards, licensing, funder audits, etc.)., • Proven experience in program management, staff supervision, and working with diverse populations., • Strong leadership, team-building, and organizational skills., • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, clients, and external partners., • Ability to manage crises, make sound decisions, and ensure safety and security for clients and staff., • Commitment to a trauma-informed, client-centered approach to care., • Ability to think strategically, solve complex problems, and lead change initiatives., • In possession of a valid CA driver's license, proof of insurance, and be approved by Restorative Pathways insurance as a driver in order to drive agency vehicles. If a staff member cannot be approved by Restorative Pathways insurance as a driver, employment might not be able to continue. Instances where staff cannot be approved to drive will be reviewed on a case by case basis to determine if employment can continue in their role without driving agency vehicles. Items considered include but are not limited to: the shift the staff member holds and the frequency/necessity of driving during that shift, the amount of time before the staff member may be approved to drive by the insurance carrier, the availability of other staff on site to drive agency vehicles as program needs require, etc. The anticipated start date for this position is Winter 2025. The Director of Adult Residential Services provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and program excellence across all of our adult residential programs. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed, culturally responsive services that meet all contractual, regulatory, and agency standards. The DoARS builds strong, solutions-oriented teams; ensures programs are fully staffed and supported; maintains strict compliance with funding and licensing requirements; and drives continuous improvement through data, accountability, and collaborative leadership. The Director of Adult Residential Services will lead a dedicated team, maintain program compliance with all relevant standards, and work collaboratively across departments to ensure high-quality care and positive outcomes for clients. The DoARS will actively participate as a member of the RP Leadership team. The DoARS is also expected to maintain regular visibility across locations conducting site visits regularly each month, per program to strengthen relationships, enhance communication, and ensure service delivery aligns with the agencys mission and standards. Responsibilities include: Program Leadership & Oversight • Provide high-level leadership for all adult residential programs, ensuring cohesive operations and alignment with agency values and strategic priorities., • Oversee daily program functioning, crisis response systems, service coordination, and adherence to trauma-centered practices., • Conduct minimum three-monthly site visits to each program to maintain connection, address barriers, review quality, and support teams., • Ensure programs maintain a safe, structured, and welcoming environment for all participants., • Participate in continuous growth and development that aligns with your role's responsibilities and the agency's strategic plan., • Ensure programs meet or exceed all regulatory, contractual, and funder requirements, including county shelter standards and applicable state/local guidelines., • Oversee implementation of internal QA systems, audits, corrective actions, and ongoing improvements to documentation and practice., • Directly supervise Facility Managers and other assigned leadership roles., • Foster a culture of accountability, professional growth, collaboration, constant feedback and trauma-informed leadership., • Lead staffing strategy across programs, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, succession planning, and performance evaluation., • Support managers in developing strong scheduling systems, equitable workloads, and clear communication channels., • Ensure programs deliver high-quality, person-centered services tailored to the needs of adults and families experiencing homelessness or interpersonal violence., • Guide implementation of evidence-informed practices, empowerment-based services, and effective crisis intervention., • Promote integration of resource navigation, community partnerships, life skills development, and wraparound supports., • Serve as a primary liaison between Adult Residential Programs and internal departments such as HR, Finance, Operations, Training, and Outreach., • Partner closely with the Chief Program Officer to align department goals, address systemic issues, and advance long-term programmatic vision., • Ensure consistent communication with program teams, funders, inspectors, and community partners., • Build and maintain relationships with external agencies, community organizations, and local service providers to enhance services for residents., • Advocate for the needs of adults in residential care and represent the organization in relevant community forums, coalitions, and public engagements., • Oversee program budgets, ensuring appropriate spending, documentation, and alignment with fiscal guidelines., • Track and analyze key performance indicators, service outcomes, and staffing metrics., • Ensure timely submission of funder reports, incident documentation, and required compliance records., • Complete functional timesheets by assigned due dates in compliance with time allocations., • Actively participate in reflective supervision sessions. This position is eligible for hybrid in person & remote work. Time spent on-site versus remote working will be discussed and agreed upon with your supervisor. You are expected to be availableon-site as necessary given business needs. You must be able to stand for long periods of time and perform physical activities, including lifting up to 25 pounds. You will be subject to frequent interruptions and must be able to multitask and handle stress. Local travel in the greater Bay Area may be required. Applying The pay scale for the Director of Adult Residential Services is $140-150k.
