Job Description The Data Technician installs, configures, and maintains data center infrastructure, with a strong focus on racking, stacking, and cabling complex data rack systems. This role builds and assembles IT server cabinets, ensures accurate documentation, and supports data center operations by following industry standards, safety regulations, and quality performance guidelines. The position also provides technical support and training to other technicians while maintaining a clean and organized work area. Responsibilities • Rack and stack equipment and build cabinets for IT servers and related hardware., • Install, configure, operate, and maintain data center systems, including servers, switches, and supporting infrastructure., • Perform cabling, racking, and server installations in accordance with data center standards and best practices., • Terminate cables and distribution frames, including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, and fiber optic cabling, following industry standards., • Read and interpret various build documents, schematics, blueprints, and cable routing lists to assemble servers and switches into IT racks., • Maintain accurate and up-to-date data center system documentation., • Utilize cable and fiber test equipment to verify and troubleshoot cabling and connectivity issues., • Handle hard drive devices while strictly adhering to ESD (electrostatic discharge) policy standards., • Troubleshoot data center technology and electronics, applying strong diagnostic and problem-solving techniques., • Safely operate various hand tools, maintain accurate inventory, and uphold all safety standards., • Provide training and support to other technicians on repair techniques, procedures, and best practices., • Comply with all quality performance standards and warehouse safety regulations., • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe condition., • Communicate and collaborate effectively with internal teams and, when required, external partners., • 3+ years of prior experience cabling complex data rack systems., • Strong knowledge of data center technology, electronics, and troubleshooting techniques., • Thorough understanding of data rack cabling standards and best practices., • Proficiency in installing Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, and fiber optic cables using industry standards and best practices., • Ability to read and interpret build documents, blueprints, schematics, and cable routing lists., • Proficiency in utilizing cable and fiber test equipment for verification and troubleshooting., • Experience handling hard drive devices while maintaining ESD policy standards., • Ability to safely operate various hand tools and maintain accurate inventory., • Strong computer skills for precise data entry of completed units and documentation updates., • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment., • Capability to comply with and promote quality performance standards and safety regulations. Work Environment This role operates within a clean manufacturing facility and data center environment focused on organization, safety, and adherence to technical standards. You will work around server racks, network equipment, and cabling infrastructure, using hand tools, cable and fiber test equipment, and computer systems for documentation and data entry. The work involves physical tasks such as racking, stacking, cabling, and equipment handling, while maintaining a clean and orderly workspace in compliance with warehouse safety regulations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Allentown, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.50 - $26.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
