Job Description Job Title: Custodian Job Description The Custodian II - Floor Technician is primarily responsible for performing tasks related to the cleaning and maintenance of buildings and grounds. This role includes cleaning various facilities such as classrooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, gyms, and halls, as well as driving company vehicles on campus for equipment, supplies, and trash management. Responsibilities • Clean assigned facilities including classrooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, gym, halls, etc., • Drive company vehicles on campus to transport equipment, supplies, recyclables, and trash, and refuel fleet., • Restock dispensers and manage trash and recycling materials daily., • Provide coverage and clean-up for classes, conferences, and events., • Utilize knowledge of cleaning procedures, chemicals, supplies, and equipment for floor care and custodial work., • Apply floor care procedures, chemicals, and equipment on carpets and hard surfaces., • Read and understand written directions for mixing, dilutions, and use of hazardous chemicals., • Maintain punctuality for assigned schedules and be on call 24/7 for emergencies, including holidays., • Collaborate effectively with others, work independently with minimal supervision, and manage overnight tasks in buildings., • Adjust schedules, respond to, and complete tasks based on different customer service requests., • Operation of motorized maintenance equipment., • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safe working practices., • Understanding maintenance cleaning products., • Proficient reading and writing skills., • Good interpersonal skills., • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the public., • Ability to follow written and oral instructions., • Ability to read simple diagrams., • Ability to work independently., • Capability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds., • High school diploma or GED equivalent., • One year of experience in general custodial work., • One year of floor care experience., • Valid driver's license and a clear motor vehicle record., • Custodial experience in an educational setting (preferred)., • Experience working well with a diverse population of students (preferred)., • Customer service-related experience (preferred). This position offers the opportunity to maintain and enhance the facilities of a community college, with a focus on the new gymnasium floors. You'll work in a supportive environment that values your contributions and provides the chance to work independently while engaging with a diverse population. Work Environment The work schedule is Sunday through Thursday from 9 PM to 5:30 AM. The role involves upkeeping a community college, and assisting with the new gymnasium floors. The position requires physical activity including lifting, climbing, and operating motorized equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
