Job DescriptionSalary: IT Server Technician We are looking for full/part time IDC server technicians who are positive, motivated, reliable, open to constructive feedback, able to take directions, and willing to follow our procedures. This position requires the ability to work flexible hours (30-40 hours per week) with occasional evenings and weekends. You will be trained on all necessary duties before your first assignment. Job Location: Sterling, VA Responsibilities: 1. Provide on-site tech support to our IDC customers., 2. Perform regular maintenance on servers in customer's IDC, including server troubleshooting and repairs., 3. Assume responsibility for on-time and efficient service., 4. Follow documented procedures for completing tasks., 5. Document and maintain complete inventory of all servers and parts., 6. Interact with outside server vendors as needed., 7. Perform other duties and special projects as needed. Requirements: 1. 1+ year work experience in server maintenance, migrations/upgrades., 2. Solid knowledge of Linux OS & MS Office Suites., 3. Excellent time management and communication skills., 4. Well developed organizational skills., 5. Ability to work on multiple priorities and/or tasks simultaneously., 6. Proven ability to work with little or no supervision., 7. Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field preferred., 8. Speaking Chinese Mandarin is a plus.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Network Operations Center (NOC) Manager to spearhead the design, build-out, and ongoing management of our NOC. This is a unique greenfield opportunity for a hands-on leader who is passionate about leveraging Linux and open-source technologies to create a highly automated, scalable, and efficient monitoring and response environment. The ideal candidate will not only possess strong traditional NOC management skills but will also have a proven track record of implementing NOC services and infrastructure from the ground up, with a strong emphasis on open-source tooling and automation. Key Responsibilities: NOC Design and Implementation (Build-Out Focus) · Lead the strategic planning, design, and implementation of all NOC infrastructure, services, and processes from inception. · Architect and deploy a comprehensive monitoring solution utilizing primarily Linux-based and open-source tools (e.g., Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenStack, Nagios, etc.). · Develop and implement automation strategies using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, Ansible) to streamline NOC operations, incident response, and reporting. · Establish and configure incident management, ticketing, and knowledge base systems, with a preference for open-source or highly customizable solutions. · Define and document all NOC policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and escalation workflows. · Integrate NOC tools with other IT infrastructure and systems to ensure seamless data flow and operational efficiency. NOC Operations and Management (Ongoing) · Oversee the 24/7/365 operation of the NOC, ensuring the availability, performance, and security of our critical systems and network infrastructure. · Lead, mentor, and develop a team of NOC engineers/analysts (to be hired). · Manage incident response, ensuring timely detection, escalation, and resolution of issues within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs). · Oversee problem management to identify root causes and implement preventative measures. · Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for NOC systems, processes, and incident resolution. · Monitor network and system performance, providing regular reports and actionable insights to stakeholders. · Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the NOC, focusing on automation, efficiency, and proactive monitoring. Required Technical Skills and Experience · Proven experience as a NOC Manager or a senior NOC Engineer with significant leadership and architectural responsibilities. · Demonstrable experience in designing, building, and implementing a Network Operations Center from the ground up. · Expert-level proficiency in Linux environments (e.g., CentOS, Ubuntu, RHEL) and system administration. · Extensive hands-on experience with a variety of open-source monitoring and logging tools such as Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, Icinga, ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), Graylog, etc. · Strong scripting and automation skills using languages like Python, Bash, Perl, or Ansible. · Solid understanding of networking principles, protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, BGP, OSPF), and network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls). · Experience with network diagnostic and troubleshooting tools (e.g., tcpdump, Wireshark, mtr). · Experience in implementing and managing incident management and ticketing systems (e.g., JIRA Service Desk, Request Tracker, osTicket, or similar, with a preference for open-source options). · Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) is a plus. Flex Time Northstrat does not mandate specific working hours. Although project requirements may dictate schedules, a Northstrat employee is only required to work an average of 8 hours per weekday over the course of a month. For example: John worked 12 hours on June 1st to meet a project deadline. On June 15th, John only worked 4 hours because he left early for a long weekend. John’s IBA was not debited for time off because flex time allowed him to carry over those 4 hours from June 1st.
