Job Description Summary The Employment Specialist (Field-Based Case Manager) will be responsible for providing direct program implementation activities focused on employment and workforce development as part of the agency’s Behavioral Health and Support Services unit, under the supervision of the Director of Community Development & Housing. Responsibilities include outreach and recruitment; conducting participant screenings and assessments; providing employment-focused case management; facilitating job readiness and employment-related group workshops; linking clients to employment opportunities, educational programs, and career development resources; establishing partnerships with employers and community stakeholders; and tracking participant progress and employment outcomes. The Employment Specialist works with a range of low- to high-acuity behavioral health clients and provides services in person, remotely, and in field-based clinical settings, including but not limited to the office, shelters, and client housing. Essential Functions 1. Provide targeted case management services, including connecting clients to employment opportunities, career development resources, job readiness workshops, skills-building activities, and educational programs., 2. Conduct client intake screenings into behavioral health and psychosocial support program services, and assessment plans., 3. Develop and implement outreach, recruitment, and linkage referrals to community-wide stakeholders, including job fairs, local businesses, workforce development programs, and educational institutions to support client employment opportunities., 4. Facilitate group-level sessions focused on job readiness, including workshops on resume writing, interview preparation, professional dress, workplace etiquette, and other employment skill-building activities., 5. Provide services to a range of low- to high-acuity behavioral health clients in person, remotely, and in field-based clinical settings, including but not limited to the office, shelters, and client housing., 6. Travel in the field as needed to support clients, including occasional transportation of clients using a personal vehicle, in accordance with agency policies., 7. Provide necessary program documentation, including completion of reports, administration of evaluation tools, and tracking employment-related outcomes such as job placements, retention, and participation in employment workshops., 8. Establish and maintain partnerships with local businesses and organizations to create and sustain employment opportunities for clients., 9. Attend and actively participate in unit, case conference, internal staff in-service, community, and other relevant agency events., 10. Ability to work overtime and perform duties during weekends, holidays, and evenings when required., 11. Maintain and uphold Agency mission statement, values, policies, procedures, and principles., 12. Other activities as required to conduct program and agency objectives., 13. Regular attendance required. Minimum Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required • Valid CA Driver’s License and Proof of Car Insurance 2. High school diploma or GED equivalent and above, or at least 2 years of case management experience in the public health or behavioral health field., 3. Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, and related issues. • Knowledge of and ability to work with racial/ethnic minority, impoverished and underserved communities and groups (e.g., multi-gender, generation, LGBTQ, substance using). 5. Proficient writing and oral communication skills. • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of PC hardware and software (i.e., Windows, word processing, spreadsheets)., • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously in high pressure environment., • Maintain and uphold agency mission statement, values, policies, procedures, and principles., • Reliable transportation., • Verification of employment eligibility and background check., • Updated tuberculosis test (annual requirement) – read, reviewed, and dated by a clinician 6 months prior to employment. Preferred Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Experience working in a non-profit community-based organization. 2. Experience providing counseling grounded in evidence-based practices such as Seeking Safety or TREM., 3. Bilingual in Spanish language. Supervisory Responsibilities 1. The incumbent in the position does not have formal supervisory responsibilities. Environmental Conditions (Working Conditions) • Ergonomically safe office environment with desktop computer, desk, chair, natural light from windows., • Occasional outreach at community festivals, conferences, job fairs, massage parlors, and other outreach venues that target population frequents., • Some driving and exposure to vehicles in motion. Physical Requirements 1. While performing this job, the incumbent typically spends time sitting, standing, walking, frequent driving, carrying (max.20lbs), lifting (max. 20lbs), listening, and speaking. Mental Requirements 1. The incumbent in this position must be able to accommodate any/all the following: constant distractions, interruptions; uncontrollable changes in priorities/work schedules; and availability for on call/duty after regular working hours, and exposure to inappropriate behavior and language of others.
