Job Description:School Culture and Campus Safety Coordinator Direct Supervisor: Campus Safety and Facilities Manager or designee School Summary: At Crossroads Charter Schools, we • Develop school environments where all students are actively and meaningfully engaged in rigorous instruction and authentic learning tasks., • Interrupt the school to prison pipeline policies and practices that are directly and indirectly pushing the most at-risk students out of school and on a pathway to the juvenile and criminal justice systems., • Engage families as partners in meaningful ways., • Nurture an open, collaborative, and trusting environment because the work is enormous, deeply personal, emotional and often difficult., • Engage in on-going job-embedded professional development through co-teaching and co-planning Position Summary: The School Culture and Campus Safety Coordinator (SCCSC) is responsible for supporting the safety, security, and well-being of students, staff, and visitors across the districts three (3) school buildings. Working in close partnership with school administrators and under the direction of the Campus Safety Manager, the SCCSC provides day-to-day campus safety oversight while supporting districtwide emergency preparedness, security systems, and safety operations. This role requires a visible, relationship-driven safety presence on campuses, strong situational awareness, and the ability to respond calmly and effectively in high-pressure situations. The School Culture and Campus Safety Coordinator supports the implementation of safety plans, drills, and procedures; assists with incident response and risk mitigation; and helps ensure that facilities, security equipment, and systems are functioning properly. The SCCSC also collaborates with staff, students, families, vendors, and first responders to promote a safe, orderly, and welcoming school environment. This is a 12-month position. Position Responsibilities: Campus Safety & Daily Operations • Maintain a consistent presence across all school campuses to observe safety procedures and build positive relationships with students, staff, and families., • Supervise, monitor, and patrol school buildings, grounds, and parking areas, including during occasional evening or weekend events., • Control campus access, register visitors, and administer parking passes., • Assist with student arrival, dismissal, bus loading and unloading, and traffic flow as needed., • Encourage a clean, orderly campus environment with unobstructed hallways and common areas. Emergency Response & Incident Management • Respond quickly and calmly to emergencies, including weather-related incidents, system failures, and safety concerns., • Assist with emergency response during closures, including after-hours or weekend callouts by police or alarm companies to secure buildings., • Report accidents, incidents, unsafe conditions, rule violations, or illegal activity to appropriate administrators and district personnel., • Assist school personnel with conflict resolution and de-escalation when needed. Safety Planning, Training & Drills • Partner with school administrators to identify and mitigate safety and security risks., • Assist with the development, evaluation, and improvement of safety, security, and emergency plans, policies, and procedures., • Coordinate and support emergency drills (evacuation, lockdown, shelter-in-place, medical emergencies, etc.) in collaboration with district staff., • Identify staff safety training needs and assist in planning and delivering safety training and exercises., • Support security and school culture teams focused on safety and prevention. Security Systems, Equipment & Facilities Coordination • Coordinate and help maintain campus security systems, including alarms, fire systems, surveillance, radios, access control, vape detectors, and monitoring software., • Conduct regular inspections and testing of safety and security equipment and technology; report and help resolve issues promptly., • Submit and track maintenance and repair requests related to safety, security, and facilities; verify completion of work., • Support vendor coordination and oversight related to safety, security, and building services., • Assist with monitoring traffic patterns, parking, and loading zones to ensure safe and efficient operations. Compliance, Collaboration & Community Partnerships • Assist with evaluating strengths and challenges of current safety plans, policies, and procedures., • Establish and maintain positive, cooperative relationships with students, staff, contractors, vendors, and community partners., • Collaborate with local law enforcement, emergency responders, and community agencies as appropriate., • Attend district, school, community, parent, and staff meetings related to safety and security., • Stay informed about best practices and emerging technologies in school safety and security management. Administrative & Program Support • Assist with documentation, reporting, and recordkeeping related to safety incidents, drills, inspections, and compliance., • Support the Campus Safety Manager with special projects and initiatives, including contributing to the annual school safety budget., • Assist with CPA Culture-related tasks., • Morning Checks, Mediations, Hall Sweeps, Bus duty, and other related duties., • Perform other duties as assigned. Skills and Qualifications: • Associates degree or higher in a relevant field, preferred., • Minimum 5 years of experience in security, safety, law enforcement or emergency management., • Preferred experience in academic or child services environments, • Desire to continue professional development., • Excellent work ethic, positive attitude, flexibility and willingness to perform tasks assigned., • Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in the school environment and community., • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Google Workspace applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, Gmail), along with related technology tools., • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities., • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal direction., • Proficient written and verbal communication skills., • Strong customer service orientation and ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders., • High level of integrity, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality., • Must pass an extensive background check., • School Safety Specialist Certificate, preferred., • Completed course work in IS-100.SCa, IS-700, IS-200, IS-800, IS-362.a, preferred., • Completed course work in Crisis Intervention and de-escalation preferred., • Completed course work in CPR, First Aid, Stop the Bleed and AED, preferred.
