We know each person with a brain injury is unique and can struggle with so many things. Every day, we provide the support, connections, and available resources that survivors and their support network need. Because when we do, survivors of brain injury have a chance to thrive. WHAT YOU WILL DO TO HELP FURTHER THE BIAC MISSION: As a Brain Injury Reentry Specialist, work face-to-face with clients transitioning out of legal system involvement in Denver specialty courts to develop an understanding of their brain injury symptoms and support them as they reintegrate into the community. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: * Client Contact: be responsible for managing a caseload of BI survivors from 1-2 courts (Dockets TBD), ranging from 25-35 survivors, and offering case consultation to professionals. * Brain Injury Screening: Screen at least 100 legal system-involved individuals for brain injury annually (independently or in collaboration with court partners), using the Ohio State University Traumatic Brain Injury Identification Method or the Online Brain Injury Screening and Support System, as appropriate for the specific setting. * Re-entry planning: Collaboratively develop comprehensive and wrap-around re-entry plans with at least 100 legal system-involved survivors of brain injury annually. * Symptom Support Plan Development: Collaboratively develop symptom support plans and wraparound service plans with at least 100 Legal systems-involved survivors of brain injury annually. * Psychoeducation Groups: Facilitate weekly AHEAD groups for legal system-involved survivors of brain injury. * Client Support: provides wraparound services to help clients stabilize as they transition into a new phase of their lives. * Contact professionals who support survivors’ symptoms to share Symptom Support Plans. Offer case consultation and implementation support, strategies as appropriate to meet client needs. * Contact family members, caregivers, and other support network individuals (as ROIs allow) with survivors’ symptom support plans. * As appropriate, inform, refer, and help clients enroll in other BIAC services, including, but not limited to, counseling, the self-management program, recreation programs, classes and workshops, social activities, newsletter subscription, educational materials, financial support programs, and ticket giveaways. * Follow up with clients who are not eligible for this program and refer them to the proper BIAC program. * Within 72 hours of interacting with the client, update the case with the area of need and description, and record details of client contact related to the case, including duration, type of contact, and summary of activities. * Provide guidance, support, and hope to clients navigating the legal system and preparing to reintegrate into the community. * Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supporting Teaching and Curriculum • Ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of all children, • Nurture physical, spiritual, emotional, social, and intellectual growth and development of each child, • Provide care, protection, and guidance to the children, • Support Classroom Teachers as they plan and implement a daily curriculum according to developmentally appropriate practices and school values with your teaching team, • Maintain a cheerful, nurturing healthy, safe and clean classroom environment, • Maintain attendance and injury records, • Maintain storage, organization, and cleanliness of classroom equipment and materials, • Communicate regularly with Administrative team and Classroom Teachers around classroom challenges as well as all concerns regarding a childs progress, • Participate in regular staff meetings and professional development, • Participate in School social and family education programs, • Communicate regularly with Classroom Teachers and ELS Administrative team, • Support Classroom Teachers as they plan for parent conferences as needed/requested, • Attend school-wide and class events such as picnics, parties, parent meetings and other special events, • Work with the teaching team on problem solving classroom and school challenges, as needed Professional Development • Work towards increasing knowledge and abilities in the field of early childhood education and related topics through attendance at workshops and courses, reading books or periodicals, or other means, • Team up with other staff for professional development on the peer-to-peer level, • Attend monthly staff meetings/professional development sessions QUALIFICATIONS • PDIS Early Childhood Teacher Credential 2.0(Level III or higher) or PDIS Early Childhood Teacher Credential 3.0 (Level II or higher), • First-Aid/CPR, • BA/BS in field related to Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Development, • Basic knowledge of a constructivist approach to learning and/or emergent curricula, • Proficiency in MS Outlook, • Excellent verbal and written communication, • Knowledge of, and respect, for the rules and regulations of the Staenberg Loup Jewish Community Center including the Employee Handbook and the ability to abide by them PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT This position requires the candidate to be able to care for childrens physical needs on a consistent basis. Candidates must be able to interact with children on their level; frequent bending, squatting and playing on the floor is expected. Candidate must be able to life 30 pounds. Candidate must remain alert and productive. Children and teachers move about the building to engage in weekly specials such as music, Judaics, or swimming lessons. The ideal candidate is able to be flexible with routines, and willing to engage in the overall community at the JCC.
