Job Description Summary: The Presbyterian School of Nursing (PSON) at Queens University of Charlotte invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track Instructor of Nursing position beginning August 2026. We are seeking a dedicated, student-centered educator with strong clinical expertise in adult health/medical-surgical nursing and a passion for preparing the next generation of professional nurses. The successful candidate will assume primary responsibility for teaching in the pre-licensure BSN program, with instructional assignments that include both classroom and clinical instruction. A particular emphasis will be placed on teaching in Fundamentals of Nursing and Medical-Surgical Nursing courses, where the candidate will guide students in building essential knowledge, skills, and professional competencies. The Nursing Program is housed in the Blair College of Health. The faculty member will report to the Director of PSON. Primary teaching responsibility will be for undergraduate students. Additional teaching responsibilities may include teaching in the nationally distinctive Queens General Education or Honors programs. Queens’ faculty also have the opportunity to propose and lead study abroad programs. This position is exempt from provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not eligible to earn overtime pay or compensatory time off for additional hours worked. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Teaching undergraduate nursing students in didactic, laboratory, and clinical settings with an emphasis on Fundamentals and Medical-Surgical Nursing., • Providing clinical instruction in hospital and/or community-based settings to support application of nursing knowledge and skills in real-world practice., • Designing and implementing learning activities that foster critical thinking, clinical judgment, and professional values., • Engaging in student advising and mentoring, with a focus on academic success, professional development, and NCLEX-RN readiness., • Collaborating with faculty colleagues on curriculum development, program evaluation, and accreditation activities., • Service to the unit, university, and profession., • Regular presence on campus, in the lab, and during office hours., • Theoretical knowledge and expertise in the course content area., • Ability to contribute to curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation., • Ability to use learner-centered, high-impact, active teaching strategies in classroom and online environments., • Ability to work effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and students., • Commitment to professional development and maintenance of professional credentials. Meet the North Carolina Board of Nursing requirements for faculty as established in NC Board Rule 21 NCAC 36.0318 Faculty or have a plan to meet the requirements prior to or within the first three years of teaching. • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required, doctoral preparation acceptable., • Master’s-prepared faculty teaching only in the BSN program may hold an active, unrestricted single-state license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina., • Doctorally-prepared candidates seeking to teach in the MSN program must hold an active, unrestricted multistate license with privilege to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina., • Minimum of two years of clinical experience in adult health/medical-surgical nursing., • Experience teaching nursing students in clinical and/or academic settings., • Meet all applicable requirements for governing and approval bodies, including but not limited to: University policy, CCNE, and SACSCOC.
