About the Role We are seeking a Renal Healthcare Dietitian (RDN) to provide expert medical nutrition therapy to patients undergoing dialysis. The ideal candidate is clinically skilled, detail-oriented, and passionate about improving patient outcomes through nutrition education and interdisciplinary collaboration. Key Responsibilities: • Serve as the primary nutrition expert for dialysis patients, managing all aspects of renal nutrition care, • Complete comprehensive nutritional assessments and develop individualized care plans., • Monitor and interpret lab values, adjusting nutrition interventions accordingly., • Provide clear, firm, and compassionate patient education related to renal diets, fluid management, and intake control., • Actively participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute confidently to patient care decisions., • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with CMS, ESRD, and facility standards., • Monitor and document patient progress in the electronic medical record (EMR), • Advocate for patients while maintaining clinical boundaries and accountability., • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and dialysis protocols., • Maintain thorough documentation, including initial assessments and monthly progress notes., • Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and patient reviews., • Provide ongoing staff education, including bi-monthly in-service training. Qualifications: • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential (required)., • Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure., • Ability to work independently and manage a full patient census., • Strong communication skills with patients, staff, and providers., • Strong knowledge of renal nutrition, CKD, ESRD, and dialysis modalities, • Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation Skills., • Minimum 1 year of renal/dialysis experience preferred (new renal dietitians encouraged to apply with training support)

Internal Workers – Please log into your Workday account to apply Huntington Hospital Employee Login Expectations: The Clinical Dietitian must meet the legal requirement, satisfactory completion of an examination, approved by Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) the credentialing agency of the American Dietetic Association. The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for patient care activities including but not limited to the following: provide Medical Nutrition Therapy, provision of nutritional and dietary counseling (modified diets and Food and Drug interactions), conducting of nutritional and dietary assessments, and development of nutritional and dietary treatments, including therapeutic diets. The Clinical Dietitian participates in the department and hospital Performance Improvement activities, serves as a liaison between nursing units and the department, and performing other duties as assigned. This position may require flexibility of hours. EDUCATION: If successfully completed the examination of a Registered Dietitian (RD) before 1/1/2024: A Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Food, and Nutrition from a U.S. regionally accredited college or university; Completion of a didactic dietetics program; completion of a supervised practice program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. If successfully completed the examination of a Registered Dietitian (RD) on or after 1/1/2024: A Master's degree in Dietetics, Food, and Nutrition from a U.S. regionally accredited college or university; Completion of a didactic dietetics program; completion of a supervised practice program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: Two years of acute hospital clinical experience is preferred. Ongoing: Maintains dietetic registration, state-required credentials and continuing education. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Required: Current Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) Certification issued by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics SKILLS: All departments: 1. Knowledgeable of the regulatory standards., 2. The registered dietitian shall provide comprehensive multidisciplinary process for assuring timely and optimal nutrition care of all patients. Nutrition care standards include: Nutrition Assessment, Nutrition Diagnosis, Nutrition Intervention, and Nutrition Monitoring and Evaluation, and Education., 3. The registered dietitian shall provide consultation on medical nutrition therapy issues to medical professionals providing care in the acute healthcare setting/department(s) and to the patients and their families., 4. Registered Dietitian assigned in Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit shall be CCS paneled and will have at least two years of clinical dietetic experience and one year of pediatric experience with training in nutrition services for children with special health care needs., 5. The registered dietitian shall provide consultation on medical nutrition therapy issues to medical professionals providing care in the pediatric service(s)/department(s) and to the patients and their families. Other duties in the pediatric services departments include but are not limited to: (a) Nutritional assessment, diet calculation, and the provision of medical nutrition therapy. (b) Coordination of nutritional services with community agencies. (c) Planning and oversight of prescribed medical diets and approval of all pediatric menus. (d) Participation in pediatric case conferences and discharge planning activities. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

Nutritionist Job Duties: Ensures clients' menu selections are in compliance with prescribed diet order, nutritional adequacy, age, cultural background, and religious practice.
