Summary: The Porter will make sure that a mixed-use residential and commercial buildings in Lower Manhattan, New York are maintained daily in clean and functioning order for its occupants. Overall duties will include removing debris, maintaining common areas, restocking bathrooms, and responding to all cleaning emergencies. During light snow or ice, apply granulated salt compound or alternative immediately to avoid slippage., • Report any illegal activities or conduct, suspected and / or witnessed, on the part of any tenants or visitors at or around the building. If there is any evidence of drug activity (addicts, vials, needles, envelopes), or other undesirable behavior, notify management office staff person immediately., • Report and file report on all accidents without delay to the management office., • Maintain a neat appearance and a polite, courteous demeanor at all times., • Advise of need for cleaning tools, supplies and equipment. When materials are ordered / requested / acquired, porter is responsible for storing them in proper place for future use., • Keep handrails clean and free of the dust that accumulates on them., • Wash down sidewalks and garbage beam., • Supervise any outside contractors and utility companies. Job Description PRIMARY FUNCTION/PURPOSE: The core responsibility of the Residential Aide (RA) includes the continued assurance of support and care to clients residing in the shelter. Under the general direction of the Shift Supervisor, with some latitude for independent action, the RA provides direct assistance, support and care to clients residing in the facility as well as supporting, assisting and enforcing facility rules. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Complete new resident Intake arrival packets, exits logs, daily occupancy forms., • Utilizing the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) Client Assistance and Rehousing Enterprise Systems (CARES) to complete Intake Check-in, Discharge Conditional Intake, • Review, Nightly Attendance Roaster Incident reports., • Receive food deliveries and confirm items received/receipts for accuracy by signing and dating form., • Report all inconsistencies with food deliveries to appropriate Shift Supervisor and Director of Program Operations., • Distribute meals to residents and dispose of expired food items as outlined by DHS’ Food Distribution Guidelines., • Monitor logs to ensure clients are signing the Daily Attendance Roster when entering and exiting the facility., • Provide clients access to rooms and assist in the facilitation and completion of room transfers/swaps., • Collect trash in office and dispose trash in designated areas., • Distribute DHS notices (i.e., 4002 notices, appointment slips, mail, etc.) to residents., • Adhere to DHS housekeeping mandates by cleaning office space, microwave, refrigerator, and bathroom at the end of every shift; always maintain a clean and neat office space., • Bag and tag client personal belongings where needed and report room cleaning and repair needs to Shift Supervisor., • Collaborate with on-site Shift Supervisor to ensure a safe environment for all staff and clients., • Conduct hourly rounds of the facility to ensure all room doors are secured, clients’ personal belongings are secured., • Conduct safety checks of clients staying in facility due to illness, mobility issues, etc., • Ensure clients are responsive during safety checks., • Immediately alert medical staff and immediate supervisor of clients found in distress., • Must be able to rotate shift at the discretion of the DPO to meet the needs of the program., • Conduct Operation unit inspections during the new Intake process., • Maintain all logs (Attendance, ACS, emergency contacts, sign in/ out logbook) and submit logs on the 1st of every month to Director of Operations., • On the1st of every month create a dead file of all the logs to be submitted for storage., • Adhere to the dress code policy for uniformed personnel and maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance at all times., • Review with Shift Supervisor all paperwork and logs completed during previous shift before the end of tour., • Physically check all unoccupied rooms to determine status of readiness, repairs and cleanings., • Ensure all clean and ready units have clean linens and towels.
