We’re seeking a Director of Staff (DOS) to serve as the National Headquarters executive operations integrator, responsible for synchronizing staff actions, managing headquarters operating cadence, and ensuring the timely delivery of decision‑quality products for senior leadership. The DOS provides direct executive operations support to the C-Suite of Civil Air Patrol. This position ensures disciplined coordination of staff work across status, schedule, and resource priorities; maintains consistent information flow up and down the chain of command; and prepares senior leadership for internal and external engagements, including Board of Governors (BOG) meetings. Salary Range: $110,000 – $125,000 (annually), based on experience and qualifications. What You’ll Do • Oversees general National Headquarters office operations and reports status, risks, and execution issues to the CAP/CC/CEO and CAP/COO., • Directs, mentors, and equips administrative staff supporting National Headquarters and national staff functions., • Oversees and supports the planning and execution of event logistics for major headquarters and command events (e.g., Command Council meetings, National Conference, National Legislative Day) through assigned staff., • Manages calendar for National Headquarters facility use and meeting space., • Facilitates on time preparation and execution of internal and external meetings, virtual and in-person, including agenda development and read ahead coordination (with CAG), minutes, and action tracking., • Establishes and enforces standard formats, timelines, and coordination processes for staff products (e.g., decision memoranda, information papers, briefings) and coordinates with Marketing and Strategic Communications, as needed What We’re Looking For • Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)., • Experience: 5-7 years of experience or equivalent preferred. Demonstrated experience in executive operations, staff synchronization, action tracking, or chief‑of‑staff–type functions in complex, multi‑stakeholder organizations (military, nonprofit, governmental, or federated environments). Experience mentoring and supervising direct reports., • Technical Skills: Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills. Ability to manage headquarters operations, staff work, schedules, logistics, travel, and budgets. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with senior officials with appropriate protocol and discretion. Proficiency with MS Office 365 Tools including strong experience in MS Power Automate, and related tools., • Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional) – PMI or CAPM in pursuit of PMP, • Other: Valid driver’s license; ability to pass a comprehensive background check.
