Job Description SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER Location; Newport Beach, CA JOB DESCRIPTION As a contract Senior Project Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting projects related to technology, data, strategy, people and processes. You will be responsible for overseeing the successful planning, execution and delivery of projects. This role involves managing cross functional teams, coordinating resources, and ensuring projects align with business goals and expected value delivery. We would like to see more of: • Candidates who can manage a project while also being a strategic thought partner to key stakeholders and underlying delivery team(s), while having solid foundational PM skills., • Demonstrated consultative mindset, strong problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to identify solutions, evaluate alternatives and make sound decisions., • We are looking for agents of change; someone who can look at our PMO operation and how we work critically and identify opportunities for improvement., • Be able to identify technical activities, connect the dots, identify gaps, and drive output to achieve project goals; someone who can ask poignant questions of developers and engineers., • While this is a contract role, we want to see candidates who can help drive change within the organization and share experiences with others to help the entire team grow by coaching others., • Position 1, • Lead delivery of implementing an enterprise-wide portfolio and capacity management platform, driving alignment between tooling, governance, and day‐to‐day execution practices., • Translating strategy into scalable processes that work across diverse teams and maturity levels is critical., • Position 2, • While this role uses a general Project Manager title, the position operates in the capacity of Program / Product‐type leadership (owning outcomes, cross‐team alignment, and strategic delivery—not task coordination)., • The individual must be well‐versed in Agile methodologies and comfortable working in Azure DevOps (ADO), which is used exclusively to plan, track, and communicate work., • Translate strategy and priorities into a sequenced delivery plan with clear ownership, milestones, and measurable outcomes., • Align delivery across all Engineering Enablement (EE) teams by understanding deliverables, managing dependencies, and driving coordinated execution., • Own decision‐making and prioritization—driving decisions to closure and pushing back on work that does not align to goals, timelines, or outcomes., • Make delivery health visible by clearly communicating progress, risks, dependencies, and trade‐offs in program forums, including MBRs and QBRs., • Establish and drive adoption of consistent work‐management standards across EE teams (e.g., tagging strategies, goal alignment, feature/epic structure)., • Lead delivery of technology projects of varying scope and complexity, aligning delivery approach, tools, and governance to business objectives. Apply strategic thinking to translate priorities into executable plans, balancing near‐term delivery needs with longer‐term technology and operating model considerations across teams with different levels of maturity., • Orchestrate delivery across multiple internal teams and external vendors. Ability to establish clear ownership, decision rights, and escalation paths., • Own core PMO delivery disciplines, including scope, integrated plans, resourcing needs, schedule, budget, and delivery artifacts, ensuring initiatives are executed with rigor and transparency. Maintain roadmaps, track progress, manage risks and dependencies, and ensure delivery remains aligned to priorities, commitments, and stakeholder expectations., • Drive successful delivery through strong, team, stakeholders, and executive leadership, translating progress into outcome‐based communication. Surface risks and tradeoffs, escalate issues, facilitate governance forums, and recommend decisions to sustain credibility in complex, ambiguous environments., • Collaborate on the Epic and Features roadmap, partnering with stakeholders to define and prioritize Epics and Features based on iterative delivery of business value and impact., • Manage delivery of complex integrations between internal and external systems (e.g., Azure DevOps, Workday, Snowflake), with strong attention to data integrity, sequencing, and downstream impacts. Comfortable partnering with architects and engineers to translate technical risks into actionable delivery plans., • 7-10 years progressive experience in program/project management skills, techniques and methodology (Waterfall & Agile)., • Demonstrated experience in Agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, and Lean., • Strong understanding of Agile principles and practices, and ability to coach teams on Agile adoption and continuous improvement., • Experience in breaking Epics into smaller, manageable Features and user stories., • Strong analytical skills to assess the impact of new features and changes on the overall project timeline and deliverables., • Excellent interpersonal skills, exhibit poise and exercise diplomacy in communication, ability to influence others toward consensus, conflict management and decision-making, and to direct work for project office colleague(s)., • Must be a self-starter, have demonstrated experience in a lead role, be well organized, able to coordinate multiple work streams, effectively manage their time and be a strong leader who can adapt rapidly to new developments and changing priorities., • Experience working with and demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire, cross-functional teams, including IT and third-party vendors., • Proficiency in using varied project management tools including Jira, Trello, Azure DevOps, SmartSheet, and any capacity / resource management tools., • Highly skilled in MS productivity tools (SharePoint, MS Teams, PowerPoint, Excel)., • Working knowledge of visualization / analytics tools including PowerBI., • Strong in critical thinking, data analysis and reporting, risk and controls, and process improvement., • Knowledge of IT topics such as infrastructure, software development, data, cloud, digital transformation and technology solutions commonly used in the industry., • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing business needs., • A passion for learning and a desire to grow., • Ability to apply new skills while dealing with ambiguity., • Background in strategic management and/or management consulting advantageous., • MBA, PMP and/or Agile certifications, or other relevant study., • Experience working in the insurance or related financial services industry.
