American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Omaha, Nebraska. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 04/13/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: Apr 13, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • Fast-paced Med/Surg ICU unit at a Level I Trauma Center serving as the primary tertiary hospital for the health system, • 34-bed unit caring for adult and pediatric patients (ages 15+) with diagnoses including respiratory failure, ARDS, MODS, sepsis, stroke, cardiogenic shock, renal failure, GI bleeds, general surgery, psych/OD, and cancer-specific surgeries (e.g., esophagectomy), • Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1–2 (ICU), 1:4–5 (PCU), and 1:5–6 (Med/Surg), • RNs are required to titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics, • Equipment includes CVPs, A-lines, Swans, EV-1000, ICP monitoring, Zoll Thermoguard, BellMont rapid transfuser, and respiratory support ranging from nasal cannula to ventilators; training available for specialized equipment, • Telemetry monitoring uses Draeger system with centralized monitoring; RNs must be able to independently read and interpret cardiac rhythms (no monitor techs on unit), • Charting is done in Epic (experience required), • 12-hour night shifts, 1830–0630, • Every other weekend required; holiday coverage required for 2 out of 3 major holidays or as needed based on unit needs, • RNs will float to all inpatient units, excluding Maternity/NICU, • 13-week contractRequirements, • Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses are not accepted, • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS; pending certifications are not accepted, • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required, • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; a valid driver's license is required for consideration and used to verify permanent address, • Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year (candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered), • 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire, • Driver's license required for considerationAdditional Information, • Unit interviews are conducted with unit leaders, • RNs collaborate with attendings, fellows, and residents in a team-oriented environment focused on high-quality care, • 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided, • RNs must pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%; failure to pass results in contract termination, • Charge nurses are present on each shift, attend rapid response teams (RRTs) and codes, and do take patient assignments; nursing aides/patient care techs are available at a 1:18 ratio, • Navy blue scrubs required, • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove them will result to contract termination, • RTO requests of 7 days or fewer must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after submission With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
