Working under the direct supervision of the Asset Management team, the Senior Service Technician will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining existing flat rooftop, canopy, and ground-mount solar systems and associated equipment. The Senior Service Technician will work in collaboration with the Asset Management team, Clients, and Vendors to ensure investigations and repairs are completed in a timely and professional manner and to the level of quality expected by Centrica Business Solutions and our clients. The Senior Service Technician will be primarily responsible for executing repair activities including supporting the coordination, planning, and direction of all investigative and repair-related activities and will liaison with the Asset Management team, Manager of Assets and Services, Clients and other key personnel throughout the duration of each job. Our Senior Service Technician contributes to the team by: • Lead and execute complex inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs of solar PV systems and related electrical infrastructure, ensuring full compliance with national codes, local/state regulations, and company standards., • Review and interpret project plans, specifications, technical documents, and monitoring data to identify performance issues and propose effective corrective actions., • Serve as a primary point of contact for client communications in the field, clearly explaining technical issues and repair strategies., • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior technicians and subcontractors to ensure consistent quality and adherence to best practices., • Conduct site audits and root cause analysis to identify systemic issues affecting performance or reliability., • Maintain detailed reports, logs, and repair documentation, ensuring timely data input via mobile platforms and asset management systems., • Collaborate with internal teams to refine service protocols, improve response time, and reduce recurring issues., • Coordinate third-party vendors and subcontractors as needed, ensuring work is executed in line with Centrica’s quality and safety standards., • Support commissioning, retrofits, and upgrades of existing systems to enhance long-term system performance., • Remain current with changes in electrical codes, solar technologies, and data monitoring platforms to provide innovative solutions., • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. The core components needed to be successful in this role are (i.e. must haves): • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in solar PV installation, service, or O&M, with increasing levels of responsibility, • Proven experience leading field service operations, coordinating with clients, and training junior technicians, • Strong ability to manage multiple active workstreams and resolve complex technical problems independently, • Familiarity with SCADA, machine language systems, and remote performance monitoring platforms, • In-depth knowledge of construction site safety protocols, solar/electrical equipment, and system commissioning, • Experience with QA/QC inspections and root cause failure analysis, • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and reliable transportation, • High School Diploma or Equivalent The following are a definite plus, so if you’ve got any of these be sure to tell us! • Electrical certification (Journeyman, Install, Low Voltage, etc.) This position is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (40 Hours/Week) with occasional evening and weekend overtime. This position will require frequent, mandatory short and long-distance travel throughout California. The ability to travel up to five (5) days per week is a requirement. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $40.00-$50.00/hr + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
