Job Description The Role: Reporting to the Bakery Department Manager and supervised by the Pastry Chef and/or their delegate, you play an important role in maintaining the smooth operation of the Bakery Department. You will support the daily activities and offer guidance to junior team members, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to departmental standards. Major Responsibilities: • Plan and prepare ingredients and dough for bread, cakes, rolls, mousses, pudding, sweet goods, batters and icings and frostings according to standard operating procedures or special customer orders., • Adhere to the production schedule and execute production tasks accordingly., • Ensure product quality, manage inventory levels, and minimize wastage to reduce losses., • Supervise the mixing of flour, dough, cake mix and other baking ingredients, as well as the overall production process., • Provide guidance and supervision to junior team members, provide feedback on staff performance, assist in staff training and development within the department., • Participate in the research and development of new products and encourage innovation., • Order and replenish inventory as and when required, • Maintain workplace cleanliness and upkeep of work tools to ensure a hygienic and organized environment., • Deliver exceptional customer service by enthusiastically, friendly, and courteously assisting customers with inquiries., • Lead by example, demonstrating proficiency in all assigned duties and setting a standard for excellence., • Willing to work flexible shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and statutory holidays., • Minimum of 1 years of related experience in making bakery products (Bread, cake &/or other pastries) including dough mixing, cake cutting and decorating, etc., • Knowledge and experience in supervising bakery production workflow and controlling cost and wastage, • Familiar with relevant tools and equipment, able to interpret product labels., • Able to communicate in English, proficiency in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is advantageous., • Knowledge of workplace health and safety protocols., • Demonstrated commitment, accountability, and reliability in previous roles., • A good team player, capable of collaborating with and assisting colleagues., • Good organization, problem-solving, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
