Job Description Controls Engineer Location: Chicago, IL 60633 Employment Type: Full-Time Schedule: 2nd Shift, Tuesday-Friday, 6PM-6AM No Travel Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to support production operations by designing, programming, and maintaining industrial control systems. This role plays a critical part in reducing equipment downtime, improving process efficiency, and supporting automation initiatives across the facility. Key Responsibilities: • Support production by reducing or eliminating equipment, tooling downtime, and scrap using sound analytical methodologies, • Design, specify, program, simulate, test, and assist with startup of controls systems, • Program automated equipment to meet production and process requirements, • Identify and implement process improvements through automation and process changes, • Design and quote electronic controls to support production processes, • Receive, evaluate, and recommend vendors for controls devices and systems, • Maintain and support process control equipment, • Develop and design plant and process improvements including layout, equipment, ergonomics, and workflows, • Identify critical process control systems and ensure appropriate resources are in place for maintenance, • Ensure compliance with all applicable government safety and environmental regulations, • Advise and support Maintenance Technicians on controls-related issues, • Document all activities in accordance with company requirements, • Follow all company safety and emergency evacuation guidelines, • Perform additional duties as assigned by management Education Requirements: • High School Diploma required, • Associate’s Degree or higher preferred Experience & Technical Requirements: • 2+ years of experience with the following:, • PLC logic development and programming experience with one or more of the following:, • Allen-Bradley, Modicon, GE Fanuc, Siemens, AutomationDirect, Mitsubishi, Omron, Aromat, Toshiba, • HMI or SCADA programming and configuration using platforms such as:, • Wonderware, Rockwell, Intellution, GE Cimplicity, Ci-Tech, Iconics, Siemens, US Data, • PLC programming and troubleshooting, • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, • Panel design, layout, and wiring schematic development, • Blueprint reading, • Conveyor systems and barcode readers, • Industrial controls including photo-electrics and motor control centers, • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), • ControlNet and DeviceNet I/O systems, • Ethernet, • RSView, • Field commissioning and startup experience, • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, • Excellent interpersonal and analytical abilities, • Strong written and verbal communication skills, • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel Limits of Authority: • Advise Department Manager of situations posing risk to programs, product quality, facilities, employee safety, or customer satisfaction, • Initiate actions to prevent nonconformance related to products, processes, or systems, • Identify, document, and recommend solutions for process or system issues and verify implementation, • Control processing and delivery of nonconforming products until deficiencies are corrected, • Initiate project RFQs with supporting documentation, • Quote and negotiate pricing and timelines with vendors for equipment and tooling, • Approve facility layouts when requiredCompany DescriptionBranex Group is a Minority-owned Technical Staffing firm headquartered in Auburn Hills, MI.
