Job Description Job Title: Forklift Operator Pay: $21 - $22 / Hour Shift: 1st shift Job Description This role operates a forklift in a warehouse environment to safely load, unload, and store freight while maintaining accurate documentation and supporting basic office and customer service functions. The position requires close collaboration with leadership and adherence to established procedures to ensure efficient and accurate handling of materials. Responsibilities • Safely operate a forklift to accurately load and secure outbound shipments of freight., • Unload inbound freight, verify accuracy of received materials, and store items according to organizational procedures., • Prepare and complete paperwork for outbound freight shipments, including bills of lading, and file all documentation accurately., • Clean and maintain work areas, including cleaning areas after removing racks, to support a safe and organized warehouse., • Collaborate and communicate closely with the Service Center Supervisor and Area Marketing Manager regarding orders and materials to be shipped and received., • Assist with office procedures as needed, including taking customer calls, processing orders, and checking inventory using the computer system., • Perform cycle inventory counts for customers and update records in the computer system as required., • Work additional or flexible hours as required by business needs, including emergency storm situations or as instructed by leadership., • At least 1 year of warehouse experience., • Forklift license or the ability to acquire and maintain a forklift license., • Proficient forklift operating skills in a warehouse environment., • Ability to accurately prepare and manage shipping paperwork, including bills of lading., • Basic computer skills to process orders, check inventory, and perform cycle counts., • Strong attention to detail for verifying inbound and outbound freight accuracy., • Effective communication skills to collaborate with supervisors and team members., • Experience working with shipping and receiving processes in a warehouse setting., • Comfort handling multiple tasks, including forklift operation and basic office duties., • Ability to interact professionally with customers over the phone when taking orders or providing information. You will join a team-focused operation where your contributions to safe and accurate material handling are valued. The role offers variety in daily tasks, combining equipment operation, warehouse responsibilities, and basic office support. Work Environment The role is based in a non-climate-controlled, smaller warehouse that handles utility and power line materials for various electrical companies. You will spend most of your time operating a forklift and performing physical warehouse tasks such as loading, unloading, storing materials, and cleaning work areas. The position may require working additional or irregular hours during periods of high demand or emergency situations. The environment is industrial and safety-focused, with an expectation of appropriate work attire suitable for warehouse and material-handling activities. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Watterson Park, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
