Job Description Lead Electrical Controls Engineer URGENT NEED! Position Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Electrical Controls Engineer to lead the design, programming, integration, and commissioning of industrial automation systems within the water and wastewater sector. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader with strong expertise in PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, industrial communications, and electrical controls design. The Lead Controls Engineer will take ownership of automation projects from concept and controls design through PLC/SCADA programming, system integration, factory testing, field installation, startup, and commissioning. This individual will provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on with programming, troubleshooting, and system optimization. Key Responsibilities • Lead the design, development, programming, and implementation of industrial control and automation systems, • Develop, modify, troubleshoot, and commission PLC programs for process and equipment control applications, • Design and develop HMI and SCADA systems, including operator interfaces, graphics, alarms, trends, data collection, and system functionality, • Integrate PLC, HMI, SCADA, instrumentation, VFDs, control panels, and other automation equipment, • Develop and troubleshoot industrial communication networks and protocols, • Perform PLC/HMI/SCADA programming, testing, debugging, and system optimization throughout the project lifecycle, • Lead FAT, SAT, startup, and commissioning activities, • Troubleshoot complex PLC, SCADA, electrical, instrumentation, and communications issues in the field, • Utilize AutoCAD Electrical to develop and review electrical schematics, control panel drawings, wiring diagrams, and documentation, • Provide technical leadership and direction to controls engineers, designers, programmers, and field technicians, • Review control strategies, I/O lists, sequences of operation, functional specifications, and instrumentation requirements, • Support control panel design, PLC I/O development, network architecture, system integration, and field installation, • Work closely with project managers, customers, electricians, engineers, and field personnel to ensure successful project execution, • Lead system upgrades, modifications, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives, • Ensure controls and electrical designs comply with NEC, UL508, and applicable industry standards, • Provide customer training and post-commissioning technical support as needed, • Develop technical documentation, programming standards, testing procedures, and commissioning reportsQualifications, • 5+ years of hands-on Controls/Automation Engineering experience, • Strong experience with PLC programming, HMI development, and SCADA systems, • Demonstrated ability to take automation projects from design and programming through startup and commissioning, • Proficiency with Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens PLC platforms, • Strong experience developing and troubleshooting HMI/SCADA applications, • Experience with industrial communication protocols and networks, • Advanced AutoCAD Electrical experience required, • Experience with electrical controls design, control panels, instrumentation, and industrial automation, • Water/wastewater or other process-industry experience strongly preferred, • Ability to lead technical efforts while remaining hands-on with programming and troubleshooting, • Strong problem-solving, communication, project management, and leadership skills, • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Controls Engineering, or related field preferredTechnical Skills, • PLC Programming: Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Rockwell Automation, etc., • HMI/SCADA: Ignition, Wonderware/AVEVA, FactoryTalk View, WinCC, or similar platforms, • Industrial Communications: Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC, Profibus/Profinet, and related protocols, • Electrical Design: AutoCAD Electrical, control panels, motor controls, instrumentation, I/O systems, • Automation: VFDs, PID control, instrumentation, process control, system integration, • Testing & Commissioning: FAT, SAT, startup, troubleshooting, and field commissioning, • Standards: NEC, UL508, and applicable industrial controls standards, • Microsoft Office Suite and related engineering/project documentation tools To apply, send your resume to Patrick DelGaone #Controls #Midsenior #LI-onsite #Engineering #SCADA \nCompany Description Libertyjobs.com has become an essential destination site for experienced job seekers.
