If you ask my mother, she would tell you that I have never met a stranger. I was that girl who would go down the street to find someone to help and would stop and carry the groceries for the elderly neighbor and feed all the stray cats and lonely dogs that I could find. During nursing school, I developed a true inquiring mind, and I could not sit still because I was pulled by various areas of health care. I worked in a long-term care community and I soon became pulled by the emotional and psychosocial needs of most older adults who live in long term care. Many of them are sad and although they are amongst others, many feel lonely and left behind. I made myself a promise that I would take interest in those older adults and find a way to make them smile and feel happy even if it was just for a short time. Through all my work seasons as a former teacher, a school principal, a nurse, a clinical chaplain, and now, a nurse entrepreneur, one truth has never changed: people need human connection. That’s why I started this program — to bring kindness, laughter, and companionship to older adults in nursing homes and long-term care centers. So, here is where you come in. I am in search of people with heart, and people with passion.
