Job Description About Our Organization: EnCompass: Resources for Learning is a nonprofit organization established in 2004 by families, educators, and community leaders to meet the needs of Rochester students. Today, EnCompass provides 2,400 students and their families, annually, with a cradle-to-career pathway of academic, wraparound, college and career-readiness, and job training and placement services. Job Summary: As a member of the EnCompass team, the Hive Employment Navigator supports career readiness for middle and high school students by helping them build the skills necessary to be successful in the employment landscape. The person in this role will implement and deliver innovative, student-centered career enrichments and support students in securing and maintaining appropriate job placement with employer partners throughout the community. This position is for our Hive or EnCompass programs. Job Responsibilities: • Facilitate Future Ready Employment Education (FREE) Academy for Hive youth at least once monthly. Support students in successfully completing the training, developing a resume and portfolio, and preparing for upcoming interviews., • Work with schools to ensure students receive the appropriate working papers., • Foster productive partnerships with employer partners by clearly identifying their staffing needs, referring appropriate candidates, and maintaining communication around existing employees and evolving needs., • Collaborate with all Hive organizations to pair students with appropriate career enrichments and job placements across the consortium., • Communicate directly with youth employees throughout their job placement to address concerns, offer job coaching, brainstorm next steps on a career pathway, and support overall success in the workplace., • Plan and facilitate career enrichments and exposures based on student interest as aligned with the program’s objectives., • Participate in and contribute to team, employer, and community meetings, presenting data and observations of youth progress and performance., • Represent the Hive at community events and in all interactions with employer partners., • Partner with all stakeholders to support youth in meeting employment requirements such as minimum GPA, relevant certifications, training hours, etc. Refer students to additional support services (e.g., tutoring) as necessary., • Identify youth who need more intensive services; refer youth and families to Family Navigation or other community resources when appropriate., • Chaperone off-site trips, including occasional weekend events., • Provide students with transportation to and from program, when necessary, using EnCompass vehicles., • Participate in professional development, orientations, and student events., • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor. Knowledge, skills, and abilities: • Unyielding commitment to students, families, and the EnCompass mission, • Excellent judgment and student-centered mindset, • Effective communication skills, particularly as they relate to the development of trusting relationships with youth and community partners, • Ability to collaborate with others from diverse backgrounds, • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Smartboard technology Qualifications: • Minimum – High School Diploma; valid NYS driver’s license; 1 year of experience coaching, mentoring, or supervising youth, • Preferred – Post-secondary education or training; 3 years of experience coaching or mentoring youth or families Scheduling: * During the school year: * Monday - Thursday 10am – 6:30pm * Friday 8am - 4:30pm • Summer hours will transition to normal business hours but flexibility may be needed for occasional night/weekend.
