Job Description Under the supervision of the Support Services Program Manager, the Education & Employment Case Manager will be responsible for supporting all aspects of education programming throughout Urban Peak. The Education Case Manager will also be responsible for providing support in collaboration with Program Case Management to ensure ongoing education & employment needs are met. This includes but is not limited to: GED subject test preparation and tutoring, high school re-enrollment support, post-secondary assistance and support, additional tutoring and homework support, being the direct contact with education community partners, and providing classroom support during designated classroom times. This position will also develop individual employment plans with youth and collaborate with other agencies and Urban Peak departments to identify and meet career goals with Urban Peak youth. Other duties include: facilitating education & employment hours as needed; providing youth with ongoing support, mentoring, and job coaching; identifying resources for youth to develop skills and connect youth with those resources; making appropriate referrals for youth to utilize available resources in developing job skills; working shelter floor shifts as assigned; and coordinating floor programming. Additionally, the Education & Employment Case Manager will collaborate with the Education & Employment Coordinator in all other aspects of team programming, assist in program facilitation in a manner that accommodates youth and staff safety, coordinate with other Urban Peak staff on youth service plans and goals, collect and input client documentation and service data, and work on other duties as assigned and needed/assigned. Who You Are: • An associates degree in psychology, education, counseling or a related field and a minimum of one (1) years of experience or one (1) year of experience at Urban Peak; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; teacher certification preferred, • Communicate and follow up with youth and staff on education goals to ensure progress, increase likelihood of educational goal completion, revise plans, and provide support and accountability, • Provide guidance to youth based on the principles of trauma informed care and positive youth development, • Work with team to market programming to youth, staff, and external partners, • Recruit for and engage youth in programming, • Act as a positive role model to further Urban Peak’s goals, • Attend all required training, staff meetings and client reviews, being prepared to address client issues, • Work milieu shifts and provide support in other Urban Peak Programs with the goal of connecting with youth and encouraging entry into education programming What You Will Do: GED, High School, & Post-Secondary Support • Provide support in all aspects of GED preparation, secondary, and post-secondary pursuits, • Serve as point of contact for Urban Peak youth enrolled in local high schools, • Attend Education classroom hours and all functions of the classroom space, • Conduct assessment tests and strategize GED preparation planning with students, • Conduct presentations and classroom activities for GED students, tutor students in GED subjects, • Help support secondary students in the classroom with homework, scheduling, school services, etc., • Work with the Education Coordinator in maintaining connections with local Post-Secondary institutions, • Assist with youth accessing and submitting required post-secondary admission and financial aid documents, and ways to help youth effectively enter and succeed in post-secondary institutions., • Work in collaboration with on-site classroom and Urban Peak in all aspects of program delivery, • Assist in supporting classroom volunteers and tutors helping with program Employment & Job Readiness Support • Develop and collaborate on employment events such as employer meet and greets, job shadows, job tours, or job/learning fairs, • Create and manage soft skills workshops to enrich employment skills learning, • Oversee delivery of responsibilities, professional development, and skills gain/examination process for youth training participants, • Set and keep specific training and job search hours and assist in check in’s with employed youth, • Work with staff to recruit and engage any youth interested in education and employment programming at Urban Peak, • Ensure client safety, provide appropriate and effective services, and maintain a safe and positive environment in open assistance hours, • Assist youth in developing job search skills, filling out applications, professional portfolio development, and other needs that youth may be related to employment, • Guide youth in career exploration and provide support in developing skills and meeting prerequisite requirements for identified employment goals, • Collaborate across Urban Peak programs to support youth entering the workforce Administrative Duties • Help maintain external education & employment partnerships, • Assist full-time volunteer and classroom volunteers, • Data collection, data input, and evaluation of all education related activities., • Keep the Education & Employment Coordinator informed of problems, concerns, needs, trends, or unusual circumstances in a timely manner Direct Service • Build relationships with youth by providing personal interest and attention to each youth, remaining sensitive to the objective of supporting each youth in social, emotional, and intellectual development, • Meet with youth to obtain education history and complete assessments as necessary, • Collaborate with other Urban Peak staff and service providers to help youth accomplish education goals What We Offer: • Salary: $ 24.02, • Shift: Monday thru Friday 8am to 4:30pm, • 100% Employer paid Medical and Dental plans with Buy-Up Plans Available, • Vision Plan, • Flexible Spending Plan – Health & Dependent Care, • Accident Coverage | Critical Care & Hospitalization Ancillary Plan, • Employer paid Basic Life and AD&D, • Employee Voluntary Life Insurance, • Employer paid Short-Term and Long-Term Disability, • Colorado Paid Famli Leave Private Plan – Employee / Employer Split @ 50%, • 403(b) Retirement Plan with 2% Agency Match, • Employer paid RTD Eco Pass, • 10 Paid Holidays, • 48 hours Paid Sick Time, • 120 hours of Vacation to start on an accrual basis, • Robust Employee Assistance Program, • Second Language pay differential, • Staff support for lateral growth through training and mentorship Who We Are: Founded in 1988, Urban Peak is the only non-profit organization in Denver that provides a full convergence of services for youth ages 15 through 24 experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. Our goal is to meet youth where they are and to provide them with the assistance and support, they need to become self-sufficient or obtain the necessary services they need to exit a life on the streets.
