Role Overview: The Assistant Vice President of Commercial Lending oversees all commercial lending and services functions at Suffolk Credit Union. This role is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and prospective commercial members. Key Responsibilities: • Directs daily operations and long-term strategy of the Commercial Lending department., • Leads recruitment, performance management, and employee transitions with People Operations., • Participates in developing and executing credit union strategic goals to mitigate risk and achieve growth., • Reviews and approves business loan packets for accuracy and completeness before Management Loan Committee submission., • Oversees asset quality and risk ratings for both new and existing commercial loans., • Monitors, services, and reports on all commercial loan accounts and portfolio performance., • Collaborates across departments to design and implement systems impacting commercial lending., • Provides consultative lending support to members and internal staff., • Develops and maintains commercial lending policies and procedures with the VP, Lending, ensuring regulatory compliance., • Serves as primary liaison with regulatory agencies and reports Commercial Lending performance to senior management., • Plans and executes business development initiatives; promotes SCU's commercial products and fosters referrals., • Achieves at least a "Satisfactory" rating on internal audits/exams and fulfills the credit union's mission by performing additional duties as needed. Essential Qualifications: Qualified candidates must have a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, along with a minimum of 5–7 years of commercial lending experience, including 2–3 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Credit training experience is also required. • Expert knowledge of credit union lending policies, products, and services, including NCUA and federal lending regulations (TILA, HMDA, ECOA, FCRA, UCC, HUD, RESPA, FHA, FDCPA)., • Skilled in interpreting and applying loan policies, credit underwriting standards, and compliance objectives., • Proficient in credit analysis, financial reporting, and summarizing complex statistical data., • Demonstrated computer proficiency and ability to utilize lending and financial software systems., • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage professional-level staff and operations independently., • Excellent communication, member service, and conflict resolution abilities., • Highly organized and dependable; manages multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
