Job Description We are currently looking for an Underwriting Leader for our Marine department. This job involves underwriting large, complex or specialist insurance cases in Marine and driving team excellence to achieve great customer outcomes, portfolio performance and business development targets. You will spend most of your time driving underwriting decisions through strong technical expertise, contributing to business development activities, liaising with customers and brokers, coordinating the team, as well as contributing to technical audits. You have strong analytical, relationship management and communication skills. Key Responsibilities Underwriting, trading, servicing: • Reviewing allocated cases and delivering underwriting decisions within agreed timeframes, in order to secure targeted business within authority level and risk appetite., • Clearly and positively articulating our RSA value proposition and risk appetite., • Driving trading activity to cultivate existing business relations and ensure regular flow of new business., • Managing and working with others to take responsibility for effectively and promptly resolving broker and/or customer issues., • Develop and implement business strategies aligned with company goals to drive growth and profitability. Team management: • Lead, motivate and develop a team to achieve operational and financial objectives., • Providing guidance and coaching to less qualified/experienced colleagues where appropriate., • Establishing an effective relationship with stakeholders, and access support as appropriate. Portfolio performance management: • Contributing to the creation of segment and local business development plans., • Optimising portfolio performance through data & analytics, in close cooperation with the pan-European Head of Marine., • Be accountable for managing budgets, forecasting, and delivering financial targets while fostering a high-performance culture. Governance, grip & control: • Being aware of and adhering to our regulatory framework at all times., • Capturing and recording of data in timely and accurate fashion., • Communicating and liaising with colleagues from other departments (Finance, Operations, Claims, Compliance, ..) in order to give or obtain information and/or resolve queries., • Contributing to projects and initiatives as required., • Ensure adherence to company policies, legal regulations and risk mitigation practices. Skills and experience: • Solid underwriting experience in the Marine area., • A network of relevant contacts in the co-insurance marketplace., • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with Brokers, Clients and key internal stakeholders with, Operations, Underwriting, Claims and others., • Strong analytical, negotiation and conflict resolution skills., • Agile mindset and continuous improvement orientation., • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships., • Fluent in French and English.
