Position: Electrical Engineer - Building Services\nSalary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum\n\nLocation: Manchester\n\nThis post offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to apply knowledge, experience, and problem-solving skills whilst providing good opportunities for career advancement. Projects will involve the application of practical engineering skills associated with the built environment and other related industries.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nProduce Electrical building services engineering designs from concept design through to construction issue, in line with our ethos and undertake site supervision of design projects.\nPrepare feasibility studies.\nSupervise work and design quality of more junior members of the team.\nExecute projects within defined design, programme and cost parameters.\nCarry out designs on a variety of buildings within different sectors i.e., schools, offices, leisure facilities, Public Authorities, Government buildings, industrial, etc.\nPrepare technical specifications, reports, and drawings.\nRepresent company at meetings with clients and contractors.\nConduct site surveys, inspections, and condition surveys where appropriate.\nPromote and incorporate sustainable design wherever possible.\nParticipate in design quality reviews/audits as required.\nMaintain records and archives to company standards.\nManage own workload and that of junior staff.\nAssist with processes for the development of staff to enhance the standards, expertise, and reputation of company.\nPromote and improve inter-discipline working with other disciplines such as Architecture, Civil, and Structural.\nMonitor emerging legislation and engineering standards relating to electrical building services and ensure their implementation.\nInput to the design change control process and estimate cost and/or time implications where so delegated.\nCooperate with quality, safety, and environmental objectives and contribute to the commitment for continual improvement.\nAssist in the production of fee estimates and bids.\nEngage in wider business activity and promote innovation in ways that we deliver.\nPerform ad hoc duties in line with company management system.Requirements:\n\nElectrical Building Services engineer, degree qualified or can demonstrate equivalent knowledge through experience.\nMember of a professional institution and working towards CEng.\nPrevious experience of a similar building services role and/or design consultancy is essential.\nExperienced user of Microsoft Office.\nExperience of using Hevacomp / TAS calculation packages.\nExperience of using AutoCAD and Revit.\nExperience and understanding of delivering projects to BIM level 2 using Revit applications.\nExperience of working to QA procedures.\nExcellent communication skills in written and spoken English, able to inspire, influence, and negotiate.\nIn-depth and up-to-date knowledge of Building Regulations and in particular Part L.\nA good understanding of quality assurance, safety, and environmental sustainability.\nAble to make decisions, act on own initiative, and operate in a proactive way.\nA degree of financial awareness and the ability to develop this skill further.\nGood ability to build up and maintain client and team relationships.\nEffective team worker, contributing to the team and wider objectives.\nStrong communication skills able to understand and express technical concepts clearly and accurately.\nExcellent report writing skills, experience of making presentations, and attending meetings with clients.\nOrganise and prioritise own time and tasks to enable the simultaneous running of several projects.\nBe able to logically analyse problems from first principles to determine solutions.\nA good understanding of sustainability issues including passive design, low and zero carbon technologies.\nAbility to mentor and offer leadership to junior members of the team
