Location: GuildfordSalary: £30,000 - £35,000 DOE\n A great opportunity for an ambitious Junior Systems Administrator to join a growing technology business. Working within a collaborative IT team, you'll be involved in everything from server and network administration to user support, gaining valuable experience across a broad technical estate. Key Responsibilities\n Reporting to the IT Manager, as a Junior Systems Administrator your responsibilities will include: \n\n • Deploying software and administering user accounts, groups and system policies\n, • Monitoring infrastructure, services and applications to identify and resolve issues\n, • Installing, configuring and maintaining hardware, software, networking and application components\n, • Diagnosing and troubleshooting system, network and hardware faults\n, • Managing data backup, recovery and secure storage processes\n, • Replacing, upgrading and maintaining IT equipment and infrastructure\n, • Supporting cyber security best practices and internal security controls\n, • Assisting with compliance against recognised information security standards\n, • Maintaining accurate IT documentation, processes and asset records\n, • Providing technical support to internal users and external customers\n, • Managing the IT asset lifecycle from deployment through to retirement\n, • Undertaking occasional travel to other business locations for support and maintenance activities\n, • Supporting access control, CCTV and telephony systems\n, • Setting up workstations and IT equipment for new and existing employees\n, • Assisting with network infrastructure tasks, including cabling where required\n, • Supporting ad hoc IT projects and operational requirements\n Requirements\n Junior Systems Administrator, these are the essential skills that will be required: \n\n • Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance - must be UK citizen from birth\n, • A-Level education (or equivalent) with strong IT, English and Maths skills\n, • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook\n, • Basic networking knowledge\n, • Experience administering Windows Server and desktop environments within Active Directory\n, • Linux administration experience, including Debian/Ubuntu, package management, web servers, NFS and SSH\n, • Understanding of system security principles and business continuity planning\n, • Basic scripting experience using Bash and/or PowerShell\n, • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively\n, • Excellent attention to detail\n, • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills\n, • A proactive approach and willingness to learn new technologies\n, • Ability to work independently and as part of a team\n\n Desirable \n\n • Full UK driving licence\n, • Experience with PKI certificate management\n\n Benefits \n\n • Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 depending on experience\n, • Full-time, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week)\n, • Free on-site parking\n, • 10% employer pension contribution\n, • Private medical insurance\n, • Life assurance and income protection cover\n, • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays\n, • Cycle to Work scheme\n, • Electric vehicle scheme\n, • Six-monthly salary reviews\n, • Company bonus scheme\n\n If you have not been contacted within 5 working days, then unfortunately on this occasion your CV has not been shortlisted.
