Infleqtion is a global quantum technology company solving the world's most challenging problems. The company harnesses quantum mechanics to build and integrate quantum computers, sensors, and networks. From fundamental physics to leading edge commercial products, Infleqtion enables "quantum everywhere" through our ecosystem of devices and platforms. Our mission is to commercialise atom-based quantum products that provide orders of magnitude improvements in performance and computing applications. Infleqtion has offices in the USA, United Kingdom and Australia. This is a full-time position in our Kidlington, Oxford office. Our flexible working policy enables all full-time employees to work up to 2 days a week from home as work permits. Infleqtion UK is in search of a highly motivated Control Systems Engineer with FPGA and DSP experience, and with a keen interest in joining a diverse, interdisciplinary team dedicated to transcending the boundaries of quantum technology, bringing it from the confines of the laboratory into practical real-world applications. As a Control Systems Engineer, you will employ your analytical and problem‑solving skills to contribute to the design, implementation, and operation of atom‑based quantum technologies, primarily on quantum RF sensors, but also encompassing inertial navigation systems and atomic clocks. • Collaborate seamlessly with a multidisciplinary team to orchestrate the development of atom-based quantum technologies, with a focus on quantum RF sensors and atomic clocks, • Engineer electronic solutions tailored for controlling subsystems, such as laser and optical frequency comb drivers, optical and electronic amplifiers, photodetectors, thermal sensors, and RF signal chains, • Implement real‑time and pipelined digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms on high‑speed signals within an FPGA including FIR/IIR filters, I/Q frequency mixers, and similar, • Write automated test benches to verify designs, • Debug complex embedded systems comprising hardware, software (processor) and firmware (FPGA) designs, • Create high‑speed interfaces from FPGA to hardware peripherals such as ADCs, DACs, DDS, PLL and other devices, • Execute high‑speed feedback control systems (PID and similar) on an FPGA, • Collaborate closely with software, electronics and systems engineers to design and realise new FPGA‑based peripherals, • Employ precision test and measurement equipment to characterize and test systems, • Conduct critical design reviews based on product specifications, • Create, document, and maintain designs and architectural blueprints, • Effectively manage technical priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver on project objectives, • Significant experience working in engineering, computer science, or a related field, • Proficiency in implementing DSP algorithms, digital transceivers, and control loops on FPGAs using VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog, • Ability to analyse solutions and make prototype design trade‑offs, • Strong desire to dive deep into system‑level issues and drive problems to closure in a team‑based environment with a proactive attitude, • In‑depth knowledge and understanding of digital and RF hardware, including its limitations and its impact on system performance, • Competence in controlling FPGA IP blocks programmatically via software, through e.g. AXI bus, • Proficiency in interfacing with peripheral hardware devices through standard communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, and others, • Experience in hardware product development, new product introduction, and familiarity with Product Life Cycle processes, • Hands‑on experience with electrical test, verification, and validation of products and subsystems, • Experience developing with FPGA SoC/SoM devices such as Xilinx Zynq. Experience with Xilinx RFSoCs highly advantageous, • Experience in designing for radio frequency products and experience using associated test equipment such as RF signal generators, spectrum analysers, network analysers, • PCB design experience (schematic capture, PCB layout, component creation all desirable), • Design experience with C/C++ for embedded systems, • Design experience/working knowledge of Python to aid verification and test, • Experience with embedded systems programming in C/C++ or Rust, • Familiarity with software version control systems such as git, • Familiarity with Software‑Defined‑Radio systems, • Familiarity with common laser frequency stabilisation methods Regardless of your interest in the quantum industry, you can take pride in the fact that Infleqtion is building an ecosystem of quantum technologies and commercial products, driving the industry towards the future. Studies reveal that while men apply for jobs when they meet an average of 60% of the requirements, women and other groups tend to apply only when they meet all the criteria. If you believe you have the potential but don't meet every single point in our job advertisement, please don't hesitate to contact us! We would love to chat with you and see how you could bring great value to our team. Our goal is to find exceptional individuals who can enrich our team culture, actively contribute, and have a genuine passion for their work. Here you have freedom to embrace your whole self: who you love, your gender identity and expression, skin colour, age, appearance, disability, neurodiversity, DNA, military/veteran status, citizenship, and other factors that make up who you are. Your uniqueness is valued, welcomed, and appreciated here. We are dedicated to providing a positive workplace and base all employment decisions on your qualifications, performance, merits, as well as business needs. We are proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer. • Competitive salary, • Unlimited PTO, • BUPA healthcare after probation period, • Generous company pension contribution, • Cycle to work and Technology schemes, • Incentive Stock Option Plan #J-18808-Ljbffr
