Registered Manager – Children's Residential Service Salary: £50,000 – £65,000 per year Location: London Contract: Full-time, permanent Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:30 pm (with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and on-call duties) About the Service This small, specialist residential setting provides care and support for young people (11–18) who experience Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). The service is committed to helping children and young people who have faced trauma, emotional instability, or self-harm, empowering them to develop resilience, confidence, and independence. The home works collaboratively with professionals and therapeutic services to ensure each young person’s emotional, social, and mental health needs are met holistically. Our goal is to provide a stable, nurturing environment that enables young people to thrive and move forward positively -whether returning to family life, transitioning to foster care, or preparing for independent living. We’re looking for a dynamic Registered Manager who shares our commitment to creating a safe, structured, and caring home environment for young people in need of stability and belonging. Role Overview The Registered Manager will be responsible for the leadership and day-to-day management of the children’s home, ensuring high standards of care and compliance with all regulatory requirements. This role combines strong leadership with a child-centred approach, balancing operational management with hands-on involvement in supporting young people and staff alike. You will play a key role in shaping the home’s culture, promoting best practice, and ensuring that every decision places the needs and wellbeing of the children first. Key Responsibilities • Lead and manage the children’s residential home in line with relevant care standards and statutory guidance., • Promote the welfare, safety, and emotional wellbeing of all young people in residence., • Build, lead, and motivate a team of care professionals to deliver outstanding support and outcomes., • Develop and maintain a therapeutic environment that fosters recovery, stability, and growth following trauma., • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safeguarding requirements, including preparation for inspection., • Oversee placement planning, ensuring each child’s care plan reflects their individual needs and goals., • Maintain occupancy and operational efficiency while upholding the highest standards of care., • Represent the service effectively to external partners, including local authorities and commissioning bodies., • Cultivate a home environment where both staff and young people feel valued, supported, and empowered., • Undertake any reasonable management duties necessary to maintain smooth operation and positive outcomes. Qualifications and Experience Essential: • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)., • Minimum of two years’ experience as a Registered Manager in a children’s residential setting with at least a “Good” regulatory rating., • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle., • Enhanced DBS check on the update service., • Strong leadership and team-building skills., • Compassionate, patient, and emotionally resilient nature., • Proven ability to develop meaningful relationships with young people and professionals., • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
