About the role Palmbrokers’ health and safety system exists to keep people safe within that client-led culture of creativity. Excellent and instinctive communication is key for the health and safety manager to foster understanding and a strong sense of responsibility for safety within every individual. Every member of staff must be sufficiently trained and aware that their health and safety responsibilities are a critical and integral part of what they do. What you’ll do As Palmbrokers’ health and safety manager, you will work across the business to lead and drive all aspects of health and safety, facilitating a culture of safety and continuous improvement as well as providing assurance to the Board of Directors that Palmbrokers complies with relevant legislative requirements and accepted industry guidance. • Lead the implementation and monitoring of the health & safety management system, ensuring compliance with UK legislation including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974., • Oversee health and safety across two premises, transport operations and off-site working environments including film and TV production locations, live event venues and international projects., • Continually assess risks across all areas of the business, prepare and review risk assessments and method statements, and work closely with staff to create and embed safe systems of work., • Ensure safety in key risk areas including manual handling, loading and unloading large containers, vehicle operations and working in unfamiliar environments., • Deliver inductions, toolbox talks and refresher training; maintain a training needs analysis and a full training matrix to build and track competence across the workforce., • Establish audit processes, undertake inspections and site visits, lead on formal accreditations, and liaise with regulators, insurers, clients and other external bodies., • Maintain and analyse records of incidents, accidents and near misses; lead investigations and corrective actions., • Engage with employees and contractors, consult with safety champions and develop worker participation in a positive safety culture., • Develop and test emergency response procedures for both on-site and off-site environments, ensuring first aid provision and incident management is robust. What we’re looking for • Essential: NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent), strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation and management systems (e.g. ISO 45001), full UK driving licence., • Desirable: NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH accreditation (Technical or higher), Fire Risk Assessor qualification, CITB SMSTS or NEBOSH Construction., • At least 5 years’ experience in a senior health and safety management role with responsibility for risk assessments, training, compliance and procedure development., • Strong organisational and analytical skills with the ability to develop solutions and advise senior management on emerging risks and regulatory changes., • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to influence at all levels, motivate staff and build effective working relationships internally and with clients., • Experience in logistics, horticulture, plant hire, events or production environments is an advantage.
