The role of the Trade Compliance Manager is to ensure: • Trade Compliance, • Compliance with import/export control procedures, • Compliance with local/global product requirements and regulations related to imports / exports. About the Role Day-to-day monitoring of site export and import shipments to maximize customer satisfaction; resolve any transaction issues, escalate significant transaction or process issues as needed. Assist Spring GDS in the development and implementation of local compliance policies specific to trade compliance changes EU policy changes. Support Spring GDS with other process, strategic and transactional support when needed. Maintain filing systems to manage export and import records while meeting government and corporate record retention requirements. Responsibilities • Interface with internal and external stakeholders in order to obtain required information., • Perform screening activities for proposed export transactions, suppliers, site visits, and documenting the screening as evidence of due diligence., • Assist Spring GDS with the management of all applicable databases containing dual use and tariff classifications with AEB / Customers wide IT stakeholders on classification and HS coding issues., • Apply for and maintain / administer all necessary licenses, permits and approvals for export transactions, including AEO, IATA, etc., • Perform annual reporting., • Conduct audits as necessary., • Provide necessary import/export information to customs brokers and forwarders to ensure proper clearance of imports, exports and other aspects of trade compliance., • Communicating with suppliers and potentially internal stakeholders / customers to ensure they adhere to requirements for proper export / import., • Conduct periodic import clearance document audits and implement necessary corrective actions while monitoring import logs on a daily basis., • Support licensing processes., • Working together with wider CBS teams on compliance related tasks & any other relevant tasks as necessitated by the business., • Monitor trade compliance programs and processes with modest direction. Skills, Qualifications, Experience • Extensive experience in import and/or export customer service, purchasing, supply chain, international operations and/or compliance., • Degree / level 5-7 in Logistics & Transport - desirable., • Detailed knowledge of the international mail market and/or working knowledge of parcels business., • Excellent geographical knowledge., • Aptitude for research and investigative work., • Self-starter; with ability to prioritize and multitask., • Ability to read and interpret government regulations., • Customer Service skills and experience desired., • Ability and willingness to travel., • Strong attention to detail., • Strong interpersonal skills both externally and internally with excellent command of spoken and written English., • Systemic business vision, experience of business planning/development in a changing market place., • Project management skills., • Good ability with all Microsoft Office applications, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access.

Both activities support the collection of microbial diversity data that contributes to one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing databases of protein sequences. This ethically sourced database underpins advanced AI foundation models designed to build a “digital twin” of Earth’s biodiversity. Because of our strong emphasis on traceable, responsible data sourcing, part of this role will also focus on coordinating the knowledge-sharing aspects of our biodiversity partnerships—from data collection through to potential commercialization. The position combines field-based molecular biology work (including DNA extraction and processing) with collaboration management. You’ll work closely with experts across disciplines including data science, biotechnology, and biodiversity research, within a dynamic and passionate international team based in London and Boston. Roles and Responsibilities Collaboration Project Management • Work with international research groups, NGOs, academic institutions, and private partners to plan and execute environmental sampling projects that generate extracted DNA for research databases and provide valuable insights for biodiversity partners (e.g., for conservation or academic purposes)., • Deliver environmental sampling and DNA extraction training to global biodiversity partners., • Manage and apply for research and sampling permits, collaborating with governing bodies, national parks, and conservation areas to expand global sampling access., • Coordinate DNA biobanking activities in London to support sequencing workflows and production teams. Field Expeditions • Plan and lead scientific expeditions to national parks, private lands, and conservation areas where sampling permits have been obtained., • Expeditions may range from short day trips to multi-week fieldwork, including:, • Coordinating logistics for travel, accommodation, and equipment., • Conducting fieldwork safely in a variety of environments (hiking, boating, driving, etc.)., • Collecting samples and metadata accurately and consistently., • Managing expedition documentation (customs paperwork, packing lists, equipment tracking)., • Performing in-situ DNA extraction using portable laboratory equipment. Key Skills and Experience Preferred Background • Degree or equivalent experience in Environmental Science, Biodiversity, or related Life Sciences (e.g., ecology, molecular biology, climate science, or geology). Interpersonal Skills • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders., • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines., • A strong motivation to contribute to global biodiversity and conservation research.
