PURPOSE OF THE ROLE Join the TV Social Publishing team and help ensure BBC content reaches audiences at scale across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook. As a Social Media Executive, you will act as a specialist in curated publishing while maintaining high standards across daily output. Combining editorial judgement, performance insight and operational precision, you will maximise reach, protect compliance and drive incremental value across the BBC's social content portfolio. WHY JOIN THE TEAM Publishing sits at the heart of TV Social, delivering performance while safeguarding editorial standards across major BBC brands. The team balances campaign-led activity with curated and archive opportunities to maximise audience value across the content lifecycle. You'll develop deep expertise in platform behaviour, optimisation and workflow coordination, building the judgement and confidence that underpin high-trust publishing environments. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT: Act as a technical specialist for curated publishing, planning and maintaining a forward schedule of archive and cross-BBC content - identifying opportunities to resurface high-performing or timely material to drive incremental audience growth within agreed editorial and performance parameters. Publish and optimise content across multiple social platforms, ensuring accuracy, compliance and platform-native quality, while maintaining consistent publishing cadence, account integrity and presentation standards. Monitor and refine performance across curated and daily output, using insight to inform content selection, scheduling and optimisation decisions. Assess and respond to cross-team requests for content amplification, applying agreed editorial and performance criteria to determine inclusion within the curation schedule and managing stakeholder expectations clearly and professionally. Support day-to-day publishing workflows, helping prioritise and reallocate tasks to maintain consistent standards and delivery across a complex, high-volume portfolio, and escalate higher-risk, rights-sensitive or reputationally complex material to the Social Media Manager where appropriate. YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: Experience planning and maintaining a forward content schedule. Experience using performance data to inform content selection and publishing decisions. Strong editorial judgement and understanding of compliance frameworks. Proven ability to operate independently and exercise professional judgement within agreed editorial and performance frameworks. Ability to coordinate priorities and manage stakeholder expectations effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. DESIRABLE: Experience curating or resurfacing archive content to drive incremental reach or audience growth. Experience supporting live or time-sensitive publishing moments. Knowledge of search and discovery best practice, particularly on YouTube. Experience working across multiple brands or portfolios. Understanding of cross-platform audience behaviour and platform trends. If you can bring some of these skills and experiences, along with transferable strengths, we'd love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.
