Facilities & Maintenance Manager About Aldenham Estate The Aldenham Estate is on the Hertfordshire-London border. The Estate is a family run business with a long and distinguished history. It was until recently largely a farming estate but has now diversified into a varied business portfolio with ambitious future growth plans. Key assets include Elstree Aerodrome, commercial and residential properties, and renewable energy schemes, with land and green spaces migrating from traditional agriculture into environmental and leisure uses, such as glamping, outdoor events and venue hire, and biodiversity net gain initiatives. The Role We are seeking a capable and hands-on Facilities & Maintenance Manager to support the ongoing upkeep, safety, and efficient operations across all our sites. The role has developed due to two (one of which is part time) long-standing members of staff gradually reducing their involvement in the business over the coming years. As such, the client is looking for someone who is comfortable taking ownership of the finance function while also supporting the wider running of the office. Key Responsibilities: Finance & Accounting: • Managing the company’s day-to-day financial operations, • Preparing accounts and assisting with year-end processes, • Handling company payments and monitoring cash flow, • Preparing and submitting tax returns where appropriate, • Liaising with external accountants and advisers, • Managing bookkeeping and financial records, • Producing financial reports for the directors Operations & Administration: • Supporting the directors with administrative and organisational matters, • Assisting with general office administration and documentation, • Coordinating with suppliers, service providers and professional advisers, • Managing company records and filing systems, • Helping ensure the smooth running of the office Candidate Requirements: • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or similar), • Experience working within a small or owner-managed business environment, • Comfortable taking a hands-on approach across a varied role, • Strong organisational and communication skills, • Able to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities, • Professional, reliable and highly organised This role would suit someone who enjoys working closely with business owners and being involved in multiple aspects of a company’s operations, rather than working in a narrow corporate finance role.
