Salary: £29,197 per annum Plus excellent benefits including healthcare, contributory pension scheme, free gym membership and lunch during term time Job Description We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic estates operative to assist the team with the general condition, maintenance, and upkeep of all the school’s infrastructure, which includes the King’s College School buildings and grounds. This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, from 7am – 5.00pm. Some Saturday morning work will be required to support Open Days and other important school events. Full uniform and PPE provided Reporting to: Site Manager Main duties and responsibilities: • Upkeep of hard surfaces, footpaths, and roadways, using the road sweeper and jet wash, • Undertaking minor repair tasks, particularly related to signs, fixtures, and fittings, • Keeping the gardens and footpaths clear and free from litter, • Managing and disposal of waste, • Accessing the site maintenance ticketing system to pick up tasks, • General support for events and activities, • Assisting, • external contractors with appropriate tasks, • with routine maintenance of the school minibuses, • with the maintenance of carpets and furniture, • with room changes and clearing rooms, • with fire emergencies by carrying out duties as set out in the school’s policies, • emergency situations e.g. school closures due to adverse weather conditions, • seasonal work including gritting and snow clearance, • other departments within the Estates team, • undertaking general duties and dealing with estates issues as directed by the site manager, • A logical approach to solving problems, • The ability to mend machinery and make small repairs, • The ability to work well as part of a team, • The ability to organise your own workload and meet deadlines, • A flexible and enthusiastic approach to work, • The ability to work without supervision and prioritise workload, • Basic IT skills, • Good verbal communication skills, • The ability to work at heights – training provided, • Start date: as soon as possible, • Salary: £29,197 per annum, • 40 hours per week, between 7.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday, with an hour for lunch, • Some Saturday morning work required to support Open Days and other important school events, paid as overtime, • Full uniform and PPE provided, • Contributory pension scheme, • Programme of health benefits, • Free lunch in the Dining Hall during term-time Closing date: Wednesday 10th December 2025 at 9am Interviews: Monday 15th December 2025 To apply for this role, please register your details online via our website (under useful information / career opportunities).
