Healthcare Regulatory / Inquests Solicitor – Birmingham – Up to £80,000 A leading national law firm is looking to recruit a Solicitor to join its nationally recognised Inquests and Health & Social Care team. You’ll work with NHS organisations, local authorities and independent healthcare providers, advising on complex and often high-profile matters including inquests, Court of Protection cases and wider health and social care advisory work. This role offers excellent exposure to advocacy, strategic advisory work and meaningful cases, within one of the largest specialist teams in the UK. The Role • Manage a caseload of inquest and Court of Protection matters, primarily acting for NHS clients, • Conduct advocacy where appropriate, handling many hearings without the need for counsel, • Advise on broader health and social care matters, including mental health, mental capacity, safeguarding and deprivation of liberty, • Support on serious medical treatment cases, welfare disputes and Human Rights Act matters, • Deliver clear, pragmatic and commercially focused advice to public sector clients, • Supervise and delegate work to junior team members where appropriate, • Contribute to client training, seminars and business development initiatives, • Work closely with clients, including opportunities for short-term secondments About You • A qualified solicitor with at least 1 year PQE, • Experienced in inquests and/or Court of Protection work, • Comfortable managing your own caseload with appropriate supervision, • Confident undertaking advocacy and case management, • Interested in health and social care law and working with public sector clients, • A strong communicator with excellent drafting and analytical skills, • Organised and able to manage deadlines, priorities and billing targets, • Experience advising within the healthcare or public sector environment would be beneficial but is not essential What’s on Offer • Salary up to £80,000 depending on experience, • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, • Flexible and hybrid working across national offices, • Exposure to complex, high-profile and meaningful work, • Clear career progression within a nationally recognised team, • A supportive and collaborative culture with ongoing training and development, • Opportunities to work closely with major public sector clients Apply in the strictest of confidence online and or via telephone – there is no need for a CV for an initial conversation.
