Salary: Competitive – discussed at application stage \n About the Role: \n We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Lawyer / Solicitor to join our specialist crime and regulatory team in Leeds. Working closely with Lead Lawyer David Chant, you’ll play a key role in handling complex health & safety, and serious motor matters—often from the very outset of an incident through to resolution. \n This is an exciting opportunity for a lawyer who enjoys both technical legal work and client interaction, and who is passionate about delivering high-quality legal solutions while building strong, trusted client relationships. \n Why Join Us? \n\n • Work alongside a highly respected Lead Lawyer on complex cases\n, • Gain hands-on experience from day one\n, • Build expertise in a specialist and growing area of law\n, • Be part of a supportive, team-oriented culture\n, • Opportunity to develop client relationships through training and mentoring delivery\n\n What You’ll Be Doing \n In this varied and hands-on role, you will: \n\n • Analyse prosecution evidence and assess its implications for clients\n, • Draft witness statements and review client evidence\n, • Collate, organise, and summarise case materials for senior lawyers\n, • Liaise with courts, coroners, regulators (HSE, CQC, Police) and external experts\n, • Prepare and serve defence case statements, sentencing and mitigation bundles\n, • Draft submissions and support case strategy development\n, • Attend interviews under caution, inquests, and trials alongside Counsel\n, • Conduct legal and regulatory research (including HSE guidelines)\n, • Review medical records, post-mortem reports, transcripts and CCTV evidence\n, • Coordinate meetings, site visits, and expert appointments\n, • Support clients sensitively in often challenging and high-pressure situations\n\n What we're looking for: \n We’re looking for someone who is: \n\n • ? A qualified Solicitor with NQ – 4 years PQE in ideally one or more of the following specialisms: \n \n, • Health & Safety \n, • Regulatory \n, • Inquests\n, • Traffic Commissioner\n, • Serious Motor\n \n, • ? Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities\n, • ? Detail-focused and confident working with case management systems\n, • ? A strong communicator, able to build rapport with clients and stakeholders at all levels\n, • ? Calm, resilient and professional under pressure\n, • ? A collaborative team player with a proactive, flexible approach\n, • ? Sensitive and empathetic in dealing with clients facing difficult circumstances\n, • ? Confident in your written work, research, and IT skills\n\n ??
