The closing date is 23 June 2026 Consultant in Paediatric Cardiology with Subspecialty Interest in Electrophysiology We are seeking to appoint an outstanding and forward-thinking Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist with a subspecialty interest in Electrophysiology (EP) to join our growing service. This is an exciting opportunity to strengthen and further develop our electrophysiology provision alongside delivering high-quality general paediatric cardiology care. You will join a committed and supportive multidisciplinary team with strong links across the network, providing an excellent platform for both clinical leadership and service expansion in this important subspecialty area. We are looking for a candidate with the vision and expertise to help shape and grow the inherited cardiac conditions service while contributing fully to the wider paediatric cardiology service. The successful candidate will contribute to the full range of paediatric cardiology activities, including outpatient clinics, inpatient care, service weeks, on-call rota participation, and MDT working, while also supporting and enhancing the electrophysiology service. This will include involvement in the assessment and management of arrhythmias, development of EP pathways, and collaboration with regional and tertiary partners. The role includes delivery of peripheral clinics, supporting access to specialist care across the wider network, alongside opportunities to lead on service development, innovation, and quality improvement initiatives within electrophysiology. Anonymous information will be used from your application in order to ensure we're meeting our pledge. • Full Specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) or willingness to complete GMC registration through GMC sponsorship scheme, • Achievement of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Paediatric Cardiology, or evidence of being within six months of award of CCT by date of interview, • Eligible for specialist registration in Paediatric Cardiology within approximately six months of interview (please note, this does not apply to CESR applications), • Higher academic qualification e.g. MSc, MD, PhD or equivalent, • Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in Paediatric Cardiology, • Any specialist EP training - recognised EP fellowship or equivalent experience, • Up to date knowledge and experience of relevant specialty, • Knowledge of NHS priorities with reference to specialty, • Experience in implantation & removal of loop recorders & drug provocation testing, • Broad range of IT skills, • Understanding of clinical governance and the individual responsibilities it implies, • Recent record of clinical governance, audit, or quality improvement project, • Positive approach to evidence-based practice., • Participation in continuing professional development (CPD) scheme and, where relevant, evidence of participation, • Knowledge of the principals involved in research., • Evidence of participation and contribution in clinical research, • Evidence of peer review research papers and presentations/ posters at academic meetings, • Ability to increase the academic profile of the department, • Experience of teaching medical students, • Experience of supervising trainees., • Knowledge of teaching to a multidisciplinary team, • Formal teaching qualification, • Training in providing feedback, supervising and supporting trainees, • Evidence of management training and evidence of learning from it, • Ability to organise efficient and smooth running of a specialist service., • Ability to cope with and effectively organise the workload of a consultant., • Ability to practice independently as a consultant., • Ability to take on responsibility and show evidence of leadership., • Ability to work under pressure and cope with setbacks, • Demonstration of knowledge of NHS management structures, • Evidence of experience in setting up a new service or improving an existing one, by encouraging collaboration and engagement of a multi-disciplinary team, • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, relatives, clinical colleagues, support staff and other colleagues, • Good knowledge of, and ability to use, spoken and written English., • Ability to present effectively to an audience, using a variety of methods, and to respond to questions and queries., • Ability to develop effective working relationships on an individual and multi-professional basis with all levels of staff both within and across divisions., • Ability to be a flexible team member, • Ability to adapt and respond to changing circumstances., • Awareness of personal limitations, • Ability to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional, or national levels, • Demonstrates the 4 Trust values, • Meets professional health requirements, • Willingness to travel to and work in other sites necessitated by the role This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
