Your Future With Us • Leadership on Mission-Critical Projects - Lead the mechanical design of large-scale data centres across the UK - from feasibility and concept through RIBA stages, detailed design, construction and commissioning. You’ll influence cooling performance, resilience, energy efficiency and long-term operational outcomes for globally recognised clients., • Global QA/QC Leadership - As part of the Global Engineering Team (GET), you will: Drive consistent engineering standards across a variety of regions. Lead technical reviews and global QA/QC processes. Support governance, peer review frameworks and technical approval gateways. Ensure mechanical designs across international teams meet Black & White’s global quality benchmarks. Your input will directly shape our worldwide design methodology, templates, tools and engineering excellence initiatives., • Strategic Client Partnership - Engage with major UK and international clients, providing senior-level mechanical expertise, design assurance and strategic engineering direction. You’ll solve complex cooling, energy and operational challenges with clarity and confidence, becoming a trusted advisor for mission-critical development., • Technical Depth & Innovation - Oversee detailed mechanical design including HVAC, chilled-water systems, heat-rejection solutions, air handling, equipment selection, plant room layouts and high-density cooling systems. You will ensure all designs meet UK Building Regulations, CIBSE guidance, BS/EN standards and evolving sustainability commitments., • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration - Work closely with electrical, civil, structural, sustainability, design management, commissioning and BIM teams to deliver fully integrated engineering solutions that meet stringent performance and compliance requirements., • Talent Development & Team Leadership - Mentor engineers, lead technical development initiatives and support career progression across the mechanical discipline. As part of GET, you may contribute to global training, knowledge sharing and engineering capability development., • Business Influence & UK Growth - Support strategic growth across the UK - strengthening client relationships, supporting bids, promoting technical capability and helping position Black & White as a leading mission-critical engineering partner. Essential Skills • Extensive UK experience in mechanical building-services engineering, ideally across data centres or other mission-critical sectors., • Deep technical knowledge of HVAC, chilled-water systems, heat rejection, high-density cooling, air distribution and mechanical plant design., • Excellent understanding of UK Building Regulations, CIBSE documentation, BS/EN standards, TM65/TM54 and sustainability frameworks., • Proficiency with mechanical design tools including AutoCAD, Revit, IES, Hevacomp and CFD modelling., • Strong background leading major projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams., • Experience contributing to or leading QA/QC, peer reviews or engineering governance is highly advantageous., • Strong communication skills with confidence representing the mechanical discipline commercially and technically., • Chartered status (CEng, MCIBSE/IMechE) or actively working toward professional accreditation.
