Position: High School Summer Abroad (HSSA) Programme Assistant (Temporary) Reports to: Pre-College Coordinator, CIEE London Centre Director, CIEE London Department: Study Abroad Location: London, UK Organisation: CIEE – Council on International Educational Exchange Who we are: CIEE () is a global, non-profit organisation that operates 60 study centres in over 40 countries worldwide. It serves over 300 U.S. College and University consortia and supports study programmes for around 6000 students annually. Established in 1947, CIEE is the world leader in international education and exchange. CIEE London is situated in Russell Square in Bloomsbury. Summary of position: The High School Summer Abroad (HSSA) Programme Assistant supports the HSSA Programme Coordinator in planning and delivering successful educational academic programmes. Key responsibilities include overseeing health, safety, and security (HSS), support the operations managing bookings for the programme’s activities, work in collaboration with program leaders and supporting instructors with material requirements for classes. The HSSA Programme Assistant plays an active role in ensuring students comply with health, safety, and security protocols and serves as an initial point of contact for emergencies and related concerns. The role executes operational duties regarding student well-being and the maintenance of student records while students are on site. This is a highly interactive position, requiring collaboration with colleagues across the organisation to achieve goals and responsibilities. Primary responsibilities General: • Support the HSSA team with pre-arrival and post-arrival projects, including but not limited to reviewing students’ documents, making reservations, and managing day-to-day operations., • Assist in organising, preparing, and delivering orientation sessions for the HSSA programme., • Help plan and implement cultural activities, overnight trips, and day trips for the programme., • Maintain effective communication with students to monitor their satisfaction with the programme and act as their primary point of contact., • Attend meetings with relevant on-site CIEE staff to update and share information on participant behavioural issues, HSS patterns or trends, and other related matters concerning student housing., • Support the creation of newsletters, blogs and social media content., • Maintain the highest standards of quality and academic excellence for HSSA programme participants. Health, Safety and Security Support: Assist in the implementation and coordination of CIEE health, safety, and security (HSS) practices: • Document any health, safety, or behavioural incidents., • Familiarise yourself with first aid, bystander intervention training, and be prepared to deliver this content to students when required., • Assist in coordinating mental health support for students and accompanying them to emergency services or doctor’s appointments when needed. The Programme Assistant should be available to attend to any student emergencies as required., • Flexible working hours depending on unexpected situations. Skills and experience: We are seeking to appoint someone with the following competences: • Education – undertaking an undergraduate degree or equivalent, • Experience – Interest in working with students, • Organisation - Excellent organisational and time management skills, • Communication and interpersonal – Enjoy working with people and have strong professional, intercultural, and interpersonal communication skills, • Flexibility – Ability to work with a flexible time schedule, some evenings, and weekends, as required, and as part of a small team., • Intercultural - Strong commitment to inclusion and diversity, • Technology – Fast learner of new technology, systems, procedures, and policies. Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and a willingness to learn new platform systems., • Candidates must be able to work in the UK. We cannot provide visa sponsorship.
