Job DescriptionSalary: $130,000 DOE Position Summary: BioFire Defense is seeking a highly organized and experienced Associate Director of Accounting Operations. This role oversees all day-to-day accounting operations to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely financial reporting. This role manages the full cycle of accounting activities, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cash Management, Fixed Assets, Capital Expenditures, Month-End Close, and Royalty Accounting. This position provides leadership, oversight, and review of all work performed by the accounting operations team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to streamline processes, strengthen internal controls, and support accurate forecasting and decision-making across the organization. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of the companys financial records and ensuring reliable data for decision-making. The successful candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment. Key Responsibilities: Accounting Operations Leadership • Directly manage and develop a team of 45 accounting professionals, including AR, AP, and Accounting., • Oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with GAAP and company policies., • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation prepared by team members., • Oversee all AP and AR activities, including invoice processing, payment runs, collections, and revenue recognition support., • Approve vendor payments, ensuring appropriate authorization and adherence to cash flow priorities., • Manage daily cash balances, bank reconciliations, and cash position reporting., • Prepare and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts, incorporating expected inflows, outflows, and timing of key expenditures., • Oversee fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and periodic audits., • Review and approve capital expenditure requests, ensuring compliance with approval limits and accounting policy., • Oversee accounting for both incoming and outgoing royalties, including accruals, contract tracking, and revenue or expense recognition., • Maintain and enhance internal controls across all accounting processes., • Support external financial audits and coordinate the collection and review of audit documentation., • Own tax compliance processes, ensuring timely and accurate filings in coordination with external advisors., • Collaborate with FP&A and the broader Finance team to provide budget vs. actual variance analysis and financial commentary., • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and visibility of financial data., • Support system integrations and process standardization efforts as the company transitions from Sage MAS500 to NetSuite. May be required to obtain and maintain a DoD Personnel Security Clearance. Required Skills & Competencies Qualifications: Education & Experience: • Required:, • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required., • 15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 10 years in a supervisory or managerial role., • Experience managing multi-functional accounting operations, including AR, AP, cash, and fixed assets., • Preferred:, • Prior experience in manufacturing, technology, or government-contracting environments is highly desirable., • Audit experience and familiarity with compliance frameworks preferred. Skills: • Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and internal control principles., • Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills with the ability to build trust and accountability within a team., • Proven ability to manage complex operational processes with high attention to detail and accuracy., • Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems., • Excellent organizational and time-management skills; able to balance multiple priorities and deadlines.
